Trump attempts to silence a publisher

I checked yesterday and didn’t find anything on pirate bay, but now…

706 seeders!

In that case it is particularly sensible to sell as many copies of the book before the legal process begins to grind. Presumably once a copy of the book is sold to a consumer it can’t simply be “recalled” by the publisher unless the new owner agrees – and the ones that are out there will probably become sought-for collector’s items.

Anyway, the problem with the O. J. Simpson book was that there was widespread outrage about the fact that Simpson would be making money from the book, and the book was never actually commercially available, so it was easy for the publisher to cancel it when it seemed that it would not be a success. Wolff’s book is in bookshops now, and many people appear to be more than eager to read about all the monkey business that happened (or is happening) in Trump’s White House, even if not everything in the book is impeccably sourced, so as far as the publisher is concerned there is no reason whatsoever to pull the book unless compelled by a court of law (which is frankly unlikely).

He probably ignores all the advice they give him, so they probably just give him the same boilerplate advice for him to ignore too.

“Don’t put your relatives in a position of authority…like that.”
“Don’t obstruct justice…like that.”
“Don’t order investigators not to look at things, that tells them where to look…like that.”

“Yep, ignoring. Bill?”

“$2000.”

“Seems a bit low… I’m sure we can squeeze a few more associate hours in on that matter. Plus a few more hours of the senior partner’s time ‘reviewing’ the file. This is an important client after all. It would be wrong to fob him off with a paralegal like we normally do.”
