I think “fake news” is already starting to lose its power over the faithful.
Today (for the first time since the election) his approval rating dropped below 40%. His disapproval rating has been steadily increasing, but that’s mostly been people who were on the fence. His base is that 40%. Its also the GOP’s base.
I want to believe this is the start of the GOP having to pay a price for giving him a free pass.
I wouldn’t be surprised if trump was still running his internal own polls (after all kelly anne conlady was a well-regarded pollster) and that they saw the same drop in approval one day early and that is what prompted the last-minute press conference. In which case, his performance might be just what his base needed to get jazzed up again. But I hope not.
I don’t understand why we keep reporting him as attacking “the media” as if it weren’t “the entire institution of journalism, the underpinning of a functioning democracy”.
The entire institution of journalism is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!
Apropos of nothing:
When Rand Paul went on the Nightly Show he compared Trump to Goebbels.
But he pronounced it wrong. I was kinda blown away that a senator didn’t even know how to say it right.
I miss larry wilmore, I actually liked his show better than the new daily show…
So the guy who pledged to uphold the US Constitution as part of his oath is opposed to freedom of the press?
Is reality a democratic concept, like. . . are we supposed to vote on what is real? Because we’re basically split as a country, with this hardcore segment who will only believe what they see on Fox News while dismissing everything else. The fact that Sean Hannity is claiming yesterday’s press conference was a “total beatdown” of the mainstream media, and his followers all agree, is just mind boggling. I can’t imagine future Trump pressers are going to be much different, so every time he comes out and accuses the media of being fake and unfair is that going to be a “beatdown”? It sure sets the bar low for “beatdown.”
And 47,000 people immediately said “Yeah, that sounds right” and clicked Like button.
I would really like to see a graph with his tweets in chronological order on the X-axis and the number of likes on the Y-axis. It would be a nice way to visualize his popularity versus what he tweets (and maybe the events of the day). Does anyone know if there is a site like that?
Perhaps the press corps should just start asking our precedent questions from the Immigration/ Naturalization exam. Maybe he will be able to answer some of them correctly?
I think that would make this lying under oath. Not that presidents, lying under oath, and impeachment have anything, historically, to do with each other…
