it’s backwards. Many many many support his policies precisely because of that.

It’s like she’s transcended from an individual politician into a mythological figurehead who personifies all things liberal. @gracchus else mentioned Emmanuel Goldstein. That’s not far off.
I just love the fact that with these public statements he’s basically kneecapping any future ban he might try.
Clinton isn’t even liberal. She’s center-right if I’m being charitable.
What terrifies me is that his opinions are popular enough to get him elected.
I know I will not be visiting US anytime soon.
Um, no. He didn’t pay contractors long before the bankruptcies. He just doesn’t pay contractors, architects, ANYONE that he has a signed contract with.
You are a dolt if you work for him. Or totally desperate and bound to be taken advantage of further.
I’ve wondered that about the EPRDF – they’ve long since outlasted the regime that they overthrew. After 26 years (as of next month), is it still revolutionary? It definitely isn’t very democratic. It’s most certainly a “front,” all right…
Similarly, I’ve wondered about the PRI: institutional and revolutionary, they get to have it both ways!
The administration’s fascist nature is really showing when he does this.
The US was a convenient - and very real - boogeyman for him (and the revolution was continually under threat from the US, and thus an ongoing process). Trump has nothing but paper enemies he’s made himself. I’m not sure if that’s more dangerous or not…
Violence at/after a rally seems a very real possibility - although it felt more likely before he was elected; now such acts are an admission that the president they’ve elected is powerless, imcompetent. Now I’m fearing more of a “Charlie Hebdo” type situation, created by Trump, along with all the racist hate crimes he’s inspired.
Oh, definitely! But the bankruptcy courts were a way for him to legally walk away from all of that debt and stiff them with finality.
So, he’s like a giant kidney stone in the urethra of the USA?
Edit: h/t to @MikeTheBard for getting there way, way, way ahead of me
I try not to worry too much about Trump since y’all are very far away from me, but realizing Trump has military support makes my stomach churn…
HRC and Obama are both receiving that treatment and it’s reprehensible. But it’s also abundantly obvious that trump is pulling some third-grade-level character assassination.
Trump: “Yea I brushed my teeth. What? The toothbrush is dry? WELL THAT’S BECAUSE OBAMA REPLACED THE WET ONE WITH THE DRY ONE.”
Congress: “WE NEED HEARINGS ON TOOTHBRUSH THIEVES!!!”
Which is exactly why they have to pretend to be outraged about Benghazi, emails, etc. It gives them the pretense that their reasons for hating her are in some way political and not based on gender or cultural prejudices.
Exactly. I consider Bernie Sanders to be a centrist. If Hillary Clinton is different from him politically, and she is, she is a ways to the right of him.
Character assassination implies that he’s making accusations that are causing people to change their opinions of Obama and HRC. What he’s doing is lying as a kind of formality that satisfies the prerequisites for Congress and the media to get distracted from Russia (or whatever else), and for his followers to wave their torches and pitch forks without openly declaring their bigotry. They say “lock her up” because they can’t say “lynch liberal judges.”
I’m pretty sure this twitterstorm was on BB at some point—Elliott Lusztig channeling Hannah Arendt on the language of fascists. Read their statements not as truth claims, but as declarations of intent.
I wish more Trumpsters would visit these boards to remind us how bored they are with winning…
Two Minutes Hillary.
DESTROY ALL MONSTERS!
I have had multiple exchanges with Trump supporters who insist that Constitutional Law is simple, and they know much more than any Librul judge who has decades of experience. How does one respond to a stupid person who insists he’s an expert? I invoked Dunning-Kruger, but that was just Fancypants Librul educated stuff.
