Trump is back, repeatedly calling Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas"

Iā€™ve been working on making my mental model into an image, so far itā€™s at this point, though it needs some more work:

I can read, damn it. You donā€™t need to draw everything.

So you concede:

  • Trump says racist stuff on a regular basis
  • Trump invoked Pocahontas in a dismissive reference to Warrenā€™s possible ancestry
  • The reference was offensive
  • The reaction from Trumpā€™s audience (which he did nothing to quell) was unquestionably racist

But youā€™re still willing to go to bat for Trump that this particular statement was not racist?

Remember, folks: we like Trump because he speaks his mind! Except when the plain sense of what he says is grossly offensive, which is usually. In that case, we read whatever tea leaves we need to in order to feel good about what he ā€œreally meant.ā€

One hour until I can like this and your other comment to the libel expert in the Gawker thread.

You, too. (See comment #75.)

He was dismissing the significance, or possibly the existence, of Warrenā€™s ancestry.

I donā€™t think Iā€™m going ā€œto bat for Trumpā€ when Iā€™ve repeatedly called him a racist and said the Pocahontas nickname was a lie and unfair. Iā€™m just saying that in this one specific instance I donā€™t think heā€™s particularly guilty of the specific offence of racism.

And yes thereā€™s a racial subtext to the ā€œPocahontasā€ term, but itā€™s much milder than what people are accusing him of.

Well, heā€™s offended me from day one. I suppose that partially counts.

A twelve year old native american?

Iā€™d take it as a compliment really even if he intended it as a stab about the disney version. IE a peacemaker.

Clarification: Itā€™s a racist statement and trumpā€™s a moron for mudslinging. However I justā€¦ donā€™t see how this is anything other than hilarious to be called out of sheer ineffectiveness. Then again I am not native american, I donā€™t know how offensive/tired it would be to get called such.

Itā€™s more i find trump hilariously moronic, and then I realize heā€™s one of the primary candidates and die a little more inside.

Hmmmmā€¦ How can I monetize this newly discovered fetish?

donald has made himself a laugh in his face clown. weā€™re not laughing with him or following him off the cliff, were laughing at him and it is righteous. ridicule is the weapon to take down the schoolyard bully. donald, delete your campaign. this may be the first presidential election that a candidate forfeits. oh yeah.

Posting a picture of Trumpā€™s cock was a little uncalled for.

When I call someone a ā€œmouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging, egg-sucking inbred redneckā€ thatā€™s not a slur, Iā€™m merely throwing shade on their claim of white ancestry. Some of the greatest monarchies in Europe were inbred, and eggs are full of protein.

So, itā€™s only a 1/32nd racist? or 3/5ths?

I had a friend who was 50% Indigenous Australian; Scottish Mum, Aboriginal Dad. Not some distant family connection; traditional Aboriginal culture was a major and continuous part of his upbringing.

On colouration alone, he couldā€™ve easily passed as Norwegian.

Elizabeth Warren is a real human being.

She stands for humanity, because she understands she is one too.

We all are.

Hate isnā€™t a party.

Itā€™s UnAmerican at its core.

Notus to Trumpus: nopus potus.

p.s. And you can quote me on that, America.
