Trump "jokes" that he will leave country if he loses

One of the questions directed toward Joe Biden at the town hall meeting this week was “what would you do if you lose to Trump?” His answer was “it would be a very difficult loss, but I imagine I’d return to teaching and help guide the next generation of political leaders.”

Trump, facing the same prospect, told his supporters “I’ll never speak to you again and I might leave the country.”

Even if you accept that Trump was joking it’s pretty damn clear that only one of these people actually gives a shit about the rest of the nation.

It’s true that he’ll be subject to all kinds of investigations once he’s out of office. But look what’s happened just while he’s in office – he’ll deny, counter sue, refuse to cooperate, counter sue some more, refuse to cooperate some more, everything from the Roy Cohn / billionaire asshole playbook.

I’m seeing two more likely scenarios. First, it’s a relatable grievance (a lot of liberal celebrities threatened to leave the US if Bush or Romney or Trump won, so it’s not unique to conservatives). But it does carry emotional weight with his cult – “Oh no, the dear leader will be forced out of the country if he’s not reelected – and I feel the exact same way!”

The more likely scenario is Putin. If Trump loses the election, his value as a Russian asset is significantly downgraded; plus, there’s always the chance that he could testify or otherwise harm Putin’s activities. Consider that Trump talks on the phone with Putin every other week, with no US agents or translators, and no one knows what they talk about. There’s simply no way that Trump is not a Russian asset, more specifically a Putin asset.

When Putin’s assets are no longer valuable, they tend to fall out of windows, or eat or drink something that’s been “accidentally” flavored with radioactive isotopes or nerve agents. If Trump leaves the country it’s less likely because of US lawsuits (which he’d tamper with or avoid in any number of ways), than the very real risk of being killed by Putin.

I think we know where he’s headed.

I hear there are opportunities in the energy industry.

Funny thing is, well over half the country is thinking the exact same thing if he does get elected.

Oh, he’ll run to Russia, but before Biden is sworn in, before he resigns with a pardon from Pence. He’ll make an unexpected trip in AirForce1 straight to Russia.

Putin will eventually piss on him, but not until they “debrief” him and learn as much as they can, and they’ll take apart AirForce1 with a tweezers as well.

We can only hope that this comes to pass - preferably in a wooden box.

Putin is too smart to do that with Trump.

Assassinating Russian nationals who were inconvenient for his regime is one thing. Assassinating another world power’s former head-of-state (even an unpopular one) is a whole different level.

will he just play golf then…

Granted, Chisunau is run down in places, but this video is extremely biased. He doesn’t even touch the recently refurbished Valea Morilor Park, which the city has spent years of effort dredging the lake and rebuilding the walkways.

Strada Grigore Alexandrescu, Chișinău, Moldova

Private entities like the downtown hotel are as much the failure of the capitalists who went broke pouring money into fruitless endeavors, and the center of the city is experiencing a downturn much in the way Times Square did in the 60s/70s, or cities like Birmingham, Alabama had suburban flight during the 70s/80s.

You’re assuming that self-evident truths mean anything to Trump cultists at all, when we have plenty of evidence to the contrary.

You don’t think he holds his base there in disgust?

This. He is not leaving of his own free will. Not in 2021 and not in 2025.

Was he joking? There ARE places with no extradition treaties aren’t there? He will probably want to be in one of them when he falls from the throne and his flunkies can’t protect him any more.

The Trump family can afford its own private thugs

Mars doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the US. I will help put him on a rocket to Mars.

His debts are much larger than his assets. He is hemorrhaging money keeping failing businesses afloat and using the losses to avoid paying taxes. Daddy Vlad owns most of the markers directly or otherwise. So Two Scoops doesn’t really have much leverage.

Here is something that keeps me awake at night and probably the entire military and intelligence parts of the government. Lil Donnie has something worth a hell of a lot of money. He has access to every single secret in the US government from launch codes and cryptographic algorithms to submarine movements and the identity of every intelligence asset. I’m sure Xi or Putin would forgive a lot of debts and pay a handsome cash bonus for those. Lord Dampnut doesn’t have the brains to even know what’s important or how to access it. But Javanka and Half Scoop and the rest of the should-never-have-gotten-clearances crowd might.

And that … is not perfect.

Well, I guess there’s always extraordinary rendition if they sell their wares from abroad. That would be nicely ironic.

That’s assuming that any of those countries would actually let him in…
