Thank you for summarizing exactly how I feel in two simple, succinct sentences. It boggles the mind how anyone can still trust him.

Here’s what scares me every day: there is a large part of the population who don’t think he’s insane. Which kind of makes them insane or idiots. And many of these people have drivers licenses. And I bike to work.

Because the structure of our government is designed to deal with just this sort of minor despot if allowed to function. I will maintain my faith in the american people and our system to correct this massive error.
Yes it is a test of the constitution and the separation of powers but I think at the end of this all it will all work out.
Like Churchill said, “After trying all other options, the Americans wind up doing the right thing.”

Trump’s chaos of people being rotated in and out and acting seat-fillers probably isn’t an actual plan to discourage a 25th, but it serves the same purpose.

That’s an interesting point. If 50% of his cabinet are just acting members, I wonder if he’s imagining some loophole about their votes not counting towards kicking him out, should the situation arise. He’s paranoid enough that it’s almost plausible.

Oh! I get it. Since Trump is implicating Pence in this scandal, all Trump is saying is that Pelosi can’t be speaker of the house because Pelosi is the president.

thx!

Dudebro, lots of people, self included, aren’t standing for any such nonsense. We are protesting, opposing, voting locally, and calling out bad behavior like never before. We aren’t passively taking anything. We are opposing and voting for now. And then, if that doesn’t have the desired effect, we will take to the damn streets with pitchforks if we have to.

Your logical reconstruction is on point. Now let’s make it a reality. Down with Turd and his Pensive sidekick.

I think Drumpf isn’t intelligent enough for something like that. He knows nothing abouth the 25th Amendment because he’s never read the Constitution. Hell, that jerkoff can just barely read. His entire time in office he’s been notorious for being unwilling or unable to read anything that’s more than 6 pages, or that doesn’t include his name on every page. He’s just following his usual pattern that he’s done all his life. He deliberately surrounds himself with knob polishers, incompetents, and knob polishing incompetents, and he deliberately fosters chaos among them, because that way he doesn’t feel threatened and he keeps all the attention centered on him because the others can’t really do anything. He gets a hardon from knowing that this arrangement means he’s the only one with any real power. His revolving door appointments are nothing but a manifestation of his childish egotism.

He knows enough to fire people over suspected talk about it and to tweet about how much he hates the 25th Amendment quite a lot.

Yeah, he knows but, not by reading it. Somebody told him.

I imagine that Putin has several US Constitutional Experts on staff.

I think it’s both that Trump doesn’t know anything and doesn’t have anything we’d recognize as a plan and that Trump may be using appointed positions to avoid the 25th.

It’s no coincidence that Trump behaves in a way that provides insulation against oversight mechanisms. It doesn’t necessarily require intelligence to form a complex response to a system of rules.

Oh, absolutely. By no means do I think that the Constitution has ever made it onto his desk or his eyes. Tucker Carlson said “The 25th!” and Trump saw red.

That’s NOT in the constitution

It just says the new guy “shall take the following Oath” and his term starts at noon on January 20

The only special power of the Chief Justice is to preside over impeachment trials

Eric Cartman may be a raging, self-serving, and manipulative dick, but he has shown the ability to express empathy and actually do genuinely good things to help others.

It just rarely happens.

So, Trump is actually way worse than Eric Cartman. He has never done a single good act that didn’t have a self-serving agenda. Even the single “good deed” I can think of that he ever did (restore the Woolman Rink at Central Park) was mostly a publicity stunt to show what a great and wonderful real estate guy he is and to embarrass the city in the process.

Arguably, Biff never really grew up. I peg his emotional development as arrested at around age 11, when Fred sent him to military school.
