…Of course he was probably put there under the Obama Administration. We still don’t know how bad the “drone kill list” can get, but it WAS formalized by Obama.
Very much the equivalent of “Not my president.” Somebody once said that with Trump, you have to take what he says seriously, but not literally.
I already can’t see.
On a related note. Trump imploding and taking Pence down with him may give us “President Pelosi” for a few weeks.
Don’t forget Tangerine Fuhrer!
Honestly I think most people would be incapable of doing what Trump does. They could try, but after their thirtieth or fortieth scandal they’d become so overwhelmed they’d resign. Not to say there won’t be other Trumpians, since I think our political system actively screens out and promotes people who are genuinely believe they are entitled to everything.
I thought about this back in 2017, that ironically we may end up with the first woman president in that presidential term anyway. But that sort of depended on the Russia probe turning up criminality in both Trump and Pence. That ship has sailed, Pence isn’t going to be impeached along with Trump.
Pence’s ability to play different roles is very nervous-making, but then again:
Pence is not just odious to us.
No kidding. I wonder how it is that people can’t see through the gross insincerity that permeates everything Trump does. Like it made sense to have Trump do an appearance on pro-wrestling or even to give Trump that reality show. But you leave those stages and Trump doesn’t stop acting like that. I know that half of people are going to have below average bullshit detectors, but it feels wrong that it takes even an average one to sniff out Trump. (Though evidence shows apparently it does)
I think “They hurt my feelings” is all trump ever means.
ETA:
Oh, wow, I didn’t think there was any way Pence was going to be involved in this. But for all we know the transcript of Pence’s calls with the Ukrainian PM contain lines like:
Pence Listen, just tell the president you are going to work with Giulianni to start the investigation.
Zelensky I can’t do that, I was put in power to fight corruption.
Pence Of course don’t do it. But you’ve got to tell Trump want he wants to hear or he won’t release the military aid.
Zelensky Can’t you talk him into releasing the aid?
Pence Are you kidding? The guy’s a insane. No one can talk to him.
Isn’t that what people keep saying the Second Amendment is for?
[Yes, I know that the amount of force the government could bring to bear is going to overwhelm anything a private citizen could bring.]
The best time for them to have made that move would probably have been the day after the midpoint of Trump’s term. If he had served out more than half of Trump’s term, he would have been eligible only for one term of his own. Serving out less than half would make him eligible to try for two.
How about having one of the candidates that have dropped out of the race already start calling for an investigation of Ivanka’s business dealings? Give Trump one more source of stress to deal with.
Don’t forget the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who administers the oath of office to the President-Elect to officially inaugurate them as President.
But in reality they are more likely to join a repressive government in committing atrocities. Like every dictatorship has done with its armed population.
Trump looks like he is taking Pence down with him
The Chinese copyrights she received in early 2017 seems like a good start.
You can talk to him all that you want. But it is like that old Far Side cartoon. What Trump hears is “Blah blah blah TRUMP blah blah blah.”
Tangerine Fuhrer doesn’t fit unless there is a fire @SpunkMonkey.
He probably means every word of it. He probably thinks that he actually has the power to remove Pelosi from the seat. Remember this is the guy who, in a public speech, said in so many words that being President gave him the legal authority to do literally anything he wanted.
The fact that the 25th Amendment has not been invoked yet will forever remain a stain on the honor of this nation and a rebuke to the utter spinelessness of the Congress of the United States.
The 25th Amendment requires a majority of the Cabinet to declare the President unable to discharge his duties, which is why it has no chance of being invoked unless there’s a true mutiny in the ranks. It has nothing to do with Congress.
Maybe like a modern Business Plot?
You have far greater faith in the collective “people” than I do. So far people are standing for a huge amount of things that people should never stand for.
As for outs, big blue cities are great for the people already there. Not so great if you happen to be stuck in a red city/state with no means of getting out.
I’m not so sure. Roy Moore almost made it and looks to be trying again, and there are sitting GOP Senators that have done worse than Al Franken who haven’t felt the need to step down. Maybe none of them can get away with the amount of shit Trump has, but they are still managing to dodge career killing bullets that they shouldn’t be able to dodge.
Yeah, but normally only when a Dem is in charge and they are afraid of losing their guns, or of any of the other nonsense that Fox News is spewing at the time. Also, saying it doesn’t make it true. Just look at the man we are discussing.
So you all think that if someone asked Trump, “Who is the Speaker of the House?” he would say, “I don’t know. Pelosi’s out, and they haven’t selected a new speaker yet”?
I know the guy’s as coherent as a box of frogs, but I just don’t see it.
Then again, he is always full of “delightful” surprises.
I think Trump was being petulant, not trying to say something that way true. But if you did ask Trump who the Speaker is there is a real chance that Trump would remember this comment and it would trigger the can’t-ever-be-wrong-about-anything part of Trump’s brain. A week later we’d have a Sharpie’d list of US government officials and Lindsey Graham saying this was just normal presidential behaviour.
In God’s name, WHY? The American people voted to put this incompetent moron in office. They voted for him despite his racism, his demeaning of women, his demonstrated financial incompetence, his arrogance, and his utter lack of experience in anything except childishly demanding attention. The only thing the American public can be really counted on is to be hateful, greedy, stupid racist pigs.
The fact that the 25th Amendment has not been invoked yet will forever remain a stain on the honor of this nation and a rebuke to the utter spinelessness of the corporate whores and incompetent lickspittles who made up the Cabinet during this Administration.
There, fixed it for you.
I take offense to this.
Don’t lump the rest of us into your idea of a pig farm.
