That’s a key point I’m fascinated to see play out. Sure, Trump has lots of toadies in the WH and Congress, but they all seem to be trying to keep their heads down and riding this out in hopes of huge financial rewards; I feel like the moment Trump loses power, they’re all going to turn on him. Right-wing politicians all over the country are already discovering that only Trump has that weird Teflon coating that lets him act the way he does without consequence.

except that there are substantial minorities of the men and women who wear those uniforms who will listen the trump’s orders ahead of any of those other institutions’ orders because they want to follow his orders. and there will be a number of members of the legislature who will be shouting for them to keep following trump’s orders along with at least 30% of the public.
it has to be fought against but don’t make the mistake of thinking it has to be easy because it very much doesn’t. think of all the things that have happened in his presidency of which it has been said that “nothing like this has ever happened before” or “he is breaking norms of longstanding”.

Lord knows I hate being so boring* but I don’t believe Trump was saying, “Nancy Pelosi is hereby removed from her speakership.”
I think he meant something like, “She’s lost my respect as Speaker of the House. She hurt my feelings.”

That’s the goal isn’t it, to eliminate the separation of powers and hand it over to the Executive branch? It’s one of the rare times that President Trump has been consistent.

I feel downright silly being charitable to Trump, but his full statement was
“She’s been taken over by the radical Left. She may be radical Left herself, but she really has lost her way,” Trump continued. “I spoke to her about guns yesterday. She didn’t even know what I was talking about.”“The whole party is taken over by the Left,”…“They’ve been taken over by a radical group of people, and Nancy Pelosi, as far as I’m concerned, unfortunately, she’s no longer the speaker of the House.”
However, according to the nytimes, 217 democrats and 1 independent support an inquiry. 17 democrats do not, and 1 has yet to respond. That’s a majority of the house-- barely, – but stilll a majority.
It seems that Pelosi is better at counting votes than Trump gives her credit for.

Relax everyone. Don’t worry. It’s not official until he tweets it! Nancy Pelosi is still Speaker of the House. You can ignore most of his mouth noises at press conferences.
