Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.
The protests were part of the calculus that helped him understand that it was unwinnable. If the American people had been willing to throw everything they had into the Vietnam war the way they had in WWII it might have ended with an American military victory of sorts, albeit at a horrific cost. The mere existence of widespread protests against the war showed that such an approach would never be feasible.

How the hell do you discreetly package 600 tin cans?
Wouldn’t you like to know!
The well-armed citizenry is a joke against the US military, or any serious military for that matter, with the likely exception of North Korea. The problem is that for the rest of us, the crossfire will be a bad place to be.
He’s not a neo-con. If you ask him he’ll straight up say he’s not a neo-con. And the neo-cons I follow think he’s a dangerous, crazed extremist likely to start disastrous wars with Iran and North Korea.
The option of using violence against a corrupt regime is always present, but most people (certainly including myself) are far too craven to utilise it until the regime is literally breaking down their door.

the q&a is interesting–particularly the first questioner.
Unfortunately, we’ve not reached the crisis/crises point/s yet. Once we do then things might change. Right now, it’s still too comfy. We still got running water, Netflix, and enough money to buy crap food so most folks won’t lift a finger until that becomes a problem to do for the most common person. When that day comes I’m not sure what the people will do then I just pray they don’t go Nazi. >_>
We’re not as far from that as you might think.
