Have you read much of this thread? As noted above, those who see no problem with using other similarly obnoxious, degrading terms as part of a no-longer-mainstream discourse are dying out. I’m hoping the same happens with this one. Part of what helps that happen is people pointing out the degradation. Your outrage won’t stop me and other decent people from doing that.

You assumed that because I took umbrage with poor reporting that I was defending Trump’s idiotic behavior. How could your response be read any differently? There was no semantics involved. You apparently will not dissociate the bad reporting from the bad act. Trump did not call Cruz a ‘pussy’, at least not in the way the headline implied. What he did indeed do, was wink wink ask one of his cretin supporters to repeat the slur she shouted and then wink wink chastise her. Words matter, and twistin…

Honestly, I’m surprised that Ted Cruz doesn’t support torturing terrorists.

He does. He made that clear. He simply doesn’t support calling it that.

He claimed that waterboarding isn’t torture, but “enhanced interrogation.” (Regardless of what you call it, America’s own experts all call it torture, the US military’s own field manuals called it torture and a crime, and America has executed people as war criminals for doing it.)

Cruz went on to say that he “would use whatever enhanced interrogation methods we could to keep this country safe.”
