Do you want Godzilla? Because that’s how you end up with Godzilla.
Here’s the endgame of why I went to school out of state:
Ward Churchill of CU-Boulder
Why? Because Churchill worked there, or because you think he was mistreated?
I dunno… Prosperity Jesus is a huge market.
Well, because he worked there, sort of. It was more that CU-Boulder was so academically sloppy, that they kept waiving the requirements that he wasn’t meeting. He’s just their fraud/plagiarist that wound up being famous. CU had a reputation when I was looking for schools, and it’s not any better now.
Hang on while I dig up what was all over the news today, under the category of, “No $#it.”
Okay, here we go: Colleges Recruit at Richer, Whiter Schools
CU got called twice in the article, as a particularly egregious example.
Funny how there’s a clear Democratic majority in every field shown.
I only included a small part of the chart, which was not ordered randomly (so professions near ‘teaching’ had similar leanings).
These days the plutocrat wing of the GOP is anti public school too. They send their kids to private prep schools. So they object to paying to educate OTHER people’s children*. To some extant the crappier public education is, the better their kids in private school look by comparison. I don’t even think that the second part is a conscious thought, but I believe that it nonetheless is an important part of their hate for public schools. It helps them to convince themselves and others that THEIR children are specially capable, rather than just having more opportunities.
*personally, I’m childless and likely to stay that way. But I want the adults around me to have gotten a half-way decent education. It makes my life easier.
Losing your hand or losing your head is not the choice that I want, but it is still a choice.
That looks a lot like a recycled Gerry Anderson set.
A lot of people don’t care that much. You’d be surprised. Or they just want to or need to have lower taxes and don’t really think about long term impact at large, especially if their own kids have grown and are out of school or they don’t have kids.
A lot of people vote party line based on certain issues, and just completely ignnore a candidate or party’s intentions on other issues. (Both parties.)
Or if you are a real small government believer, its far far easier to reduce the size of local and state government as a voter, and public schools are a primary spending category for local (and sometimes state, depending on the state) government. Reducing the actual size and spending on federal government, especially the military, is absolutely impossible in the US.
The northeast liberal elite for vote for socialists and the northeast poor vote for people who want to cut all the assistance they receive. We call them political beliefs or political ideologies for a reason. If they were based on logic, we’d call them political truths.
Such as?
The only major US politician close to being a socialist is Bernie, and he’s really a Social Democrat. Liberals are not socialists.
Which is why it’s always Republicans trotting out the moronic “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”
Those who can, do.
Those who can’t, need a teacher.
And those who can, do better having had a teacher (or three. Or more).
I think your co-workers must be better-educated than the teachers I’ve met. I KNOW the teachers I know don’t like to read or watch the news!
I think you nailed it, though - they are very selfish and YET they’re very lazy at the same time. This is why I keep quizzing them like an anthropologist quizzing an isolated tribe: “So, you think you are especially gifted, and are meant to have piles of riches. And how are you going to get these riches? …Okay, so…the gods will just give them to you, without labor or ingenuity…Aha…And how do you know you are more deserving than your neighbors?..right, okay…just a few more questions.”
If she stays home at voting time, that’s already an improvement over voting for Republicans.
is a good way to end up with a generation of those who can’t.
This may be the Republicans end goal though, a large base of unskilled, uneducated people who fight between themselves for the few jobs available to them.
