I worry we’re going to throw away the next four years because of this.
I feel like we’ve learned nothing from the last four years and the Democrats are still playing a game where norms and appearances matter more than what the technical rules allow.

Off topic but the newscasters need to start coordinating their masks and ties. The PBS reporer in Georgia, his teal blue mask and salmon tie with clashing patterns is getting to me. Although I confess at this point everything is getting to me. I will clench my teeth harder I guess… Ok ,back to what a wanker trump is.

Hell no. Executive power grabs suck. You need to fix the democratic deficit in your country, not break democracy. Successive executive power grabs in the US have led to Trump’s behaviour and when, or hopefully if, another fascist becomes US president you will have created a system without oversight and with absolute power in the hands of a monster like this one.

Sounds like the kind of thing which could easily be manipulated to disenfranchise. We already have problems with standardized exams being made to a standard that is more culturally/social class specific than allegedly intended.

Citizenship by birth has been one of the greatest assets to the nation. Allowing us to integrate immigrants within one generation. Making them a vital part of the system. This avoids multigenerational slums and simmering hostility one sees where there is no real naturalization process to speak of.
