Trump rants and sues as Biden victory looms

“He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting” is a famous quote from one of his supporters. It’s very telling.

Agreed, but it’s still a good thing if he doesn’t have any institutional support behind him. He can continue to sow chaos but at least he can’t control the apparatus of government.

Hopefully that is not all a plan to justify intervention into the “disputed” results to justify intervention by state legislatures. eg. the appointment of replacement electors to replace the ones elected. Or rather, I hope those that ARE planning on those sorts of moves are thwarted.

I’ve got to hand it to Georgia and NC, the vote there is a lot closer than I would have expected-- Trump is ahead in GA by only about 20,000 votes (thanks for voting third party, Libertarians!)

Except that bit. I don’t want that bit. But aaaaaall the rest of this is miiiiiiine!

It’s not unexpected. It’s been trending more purple, more diverse, for several years now. But a lot of people who don’t live down here have just written us off as a bunch of ignorant rednecks, despite the reality.

“We are going to file a suit in Pennsylvania. It is the last thing that we wanted to do, it’s the last thing my father wanted to do. But this is rampant corruption. It can’t happen. It’s not fair. This isn’t democracy.”

Just needed some light edits. Checks out now.

Ah, those great unwritten constitutional rules the English used to like telling people were the envy of the world: they are worth the paper they aren’t written on.

Look at the actual popular vote ànd marvel at the tens of millions of sexist, racist, xenophobic charlatan loving of my fellow ‘patriots’ there are in the land of the free, home of the brave…
There is absolutely nothing to celebrate here.

My hope is that once he is out of office and no longer the President he will be deplatformed for violating the TOS pretty much every day for the past four years.

Yeah, I think that’s the thing that has surprised a lot of people over the last four years–the extent to which our system relies on norms and the good faith of those in power to have a functioning and at least plausibly representative system of government.

The knee-jerk answer is always to make the unwritten rules explicit and somehow self-executing, but that’s a lot more difficult (and fraught) in practice than some folks tend to understand. And it’s not any guarantee of anything when those in power are willing to disregard not only the spirit but the explicit letter of the law, and are able to do so without repercussion from any checks or balances.

If he loses, I suspect that he will try to run again in 2024.

If he’s still alive.

Such strange feels –– I am at once terrified and disgusted by their blatant attempt to co-opt the election result. I am also disdainful of such spoiled babies and sore losers unable to accept a clear defeat. And last I am simultaneously delighted at watching them writhe and twist to no avail. Ding Dong The Trump is DEAD.
