Trump riot: U.S. Attorney's Office in D.C. charges 55 people federally — unlawful entry, assault, theft, and weapons charges

Isn’t there some rule that, with any death as the result of a felony, all members of the group committing the felony may be charged with murder? Seems like every insurrectionist could be charged with the cop’s murder.

Shouldn’t they all be accessories to murder as well?

The organization of GOP state AGs phone-spammed to encourage patriots / terrorists to march on DC to “stop the steal.” Be sure THEY are all prosecuted, too. But by who?

So, so far I’ve seen:

  • Air Force Lt. Col.
  • State representatives
  • CEOs of large companies
  • Restaurant owners
  • active law enforcement
  • various others in positions of authority

These are not rubes with pitchforks. These are people you see every day.

Except maybe for restaurant owners none of those are people I see daily.

That said it’s definitely important to highlight that these weren’t just a bunch of economically disgruntled rednecks.

And people we depend on and place faith in every damn day. Naming and shaming is not sufficient, but it is necessary and a start.

Here in the USA there are cops and trained former military (self included) everywhere, and no shortage of various levels of government. In some states a larger percentage of persons are employed in governance of some sort. YMMV

You’re thinking of Felony Murder, a particularly heinous American legal invention. The details of it vary a lot by state, and not all states have it. This being DC, I’m not sure if it exists here. Regardless, this is one of those things that is easy to cheer for when applied to people we don’t like, but by and large is used to put black people in prison for their entire lives for minor offenses. It combines in nasty fashion with the DA practice of “charge stacking” on people they don’t like, and things like California’s Three Strikes law.

And he’s already got a snappy new outfit? Don’t they say “Orange is the new Black”?

I won’t name him here because I can’t find an official source, but Twitter appears to have successfully identified “zip tie guy,” who attended with his mom.

This aught to make the investigations much smoother
