The military or this stupid wall is all about the same thing for his supporters: “pertectin’ Murka from brown-skinned furriners”. From that point of view, the application of funds is highly fungible.

If someone were to tell trump that the Russians were coming into 'murica via Mexico, he might just build better highways and bridges instead of a stupid wall.

Well. This will (if properly reported) likely piss off some voters.

I’m split.

Taking money away from the DoD should be a good thing.

It might be if all of it wasn’t going to be re-appropriated in some future budget.

If only they could figure out what the very stable genius means by “redemption money”.

Always a lovely reminder of what kind of civilization you live in when monetary sums that could completely end homelessness and food insecurity are instead used for egotistical boondoggles.

The money could have been used to end homelessness, but were used to build more weapons and fight more wars the other side of the world. This is just transfer from one set of corrupt contractors to another. A war between the oligarchs who get to loot the government coffers.

At least its from the bloated Defense Budget. A country wide wall is a boondoggle and ridiculous.

Yeah, this isn’t really about taking money from the military so much as using the military to launder money he couldn’t get approved directly though congress.

In order, from least to most likely to beat Trump: Gabbard, Patrick, Bennet, Steyer, Klobuchar, Yang, Buttigieg, Bloomberg, Warren, Sanders, and Biden.

So, if Biden was perceived as the most electable, and the frontrunner, it might not have been a bad idea (amorally speaking) to create the impression that Biden was dirty – especially at the time.

Sounds like it is time for congress to zero the overseas contingency fund.

Defense is even more bloated in Trump’s budget. A lot of it is on nuclear stockpile, which has vanishingly little utility.

To me that says more aboot how Sanders’ hold is tenuous than anything else.

I don’t think “the Biden controversy” had anything to do with him being a bottom rung candidate. Let’s face it. He’s establishment with a capital E and had already lost a presidential bid. Also, Bernie only lost the previous primary because of the DNC’s games and because they couldn’t support a “socialist”. He’s had 4 more years to keep his name out there and he’s been fighting harder for us than Biden ever fought for anything.

Personally, I think everyone, 45 included overestimated Biden.

If they were taking money away from the incredibly flawed and excruciatingly over budget F-35’s, yes. Even the military doesn’t want them. But the DoD covers a hell of a lot and Trump will be taking this money from where it could acutally be of use.

We’re going to implement a massive government jobs program and make the Pentagon pay for it.

I always thought the wall would be a big dumb way to inject money into the economy (like MMT, but without using it to invest in useful infrastructure). Paying for it by taking money away from the military is great, a much better use of funds, still not the best use of funds but much better.
