Trump to pardon Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney's former chief of staff

Maybe Trump needs someone to write some golden shower fanfiction for him?

60% of people lie during a typical 10-minute
conversation and that they average two to three lies
during that short timeframe.

People lying in everyday life about mundane things while not under oath can in no way be compared to a situation where someone is testifying about facts material to a case, under penalty of perjury.

Um. Wait, I think I know this one! One actually happened, and the other is a work of fiction?

Exactly. It’s not like someone just followed Libby around with a hidden microphone until he told a fib and then slapped him with a conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice.

Trump must be getting this from someone else. Trump himself isn’t smart enough/doesn’t care enough to: 1) be normalizing the pardoning of previous offenders; 2) remember who Scooter Libby is and/or what he did.

I suspect the real actor is: some sniveling apparatchik like Stephen Miller. And the cheese he used to motivate Trump: Oh, this will infuriate the liberals!

This should have Fox News anchors flogging it like a chimp in a zoo cage.

I think we’re really starting to zero in on Greatness Again!

What!? You mean to tell me it’s capable of actually thinking over a decision for more than a fraction of a second before acting?

I guess it’s hard to find experienced White House staffers these days …

You know, I just don’t know what to say about this shit anymore. It’s nuts.

If you take politics out of it, if you don’t think about who belongs to what party, then there’s no way to look at Trump and say anything remotely good about him. Craven, corrupt, incompetent, profoundly and combatively ignorant, narcissistic, and probably some more adjectives that are pointless to even add to this list.

I’m sure a lot of Trump voters would have seen this a long time ago if they weren’t listening to Hannity and Limbaugh defend him and blame the “deep state” for all his woes.

He was pretty bad. Don’t let Turnip shift your baseline.

Totally agree. Plus, encouraging leaking is a good thing now.

Perjury trap? There’s a bullshit term. Lying to the FBI is illegal. As far a traps go, it’s pretty easy to avoid. If the FBI (or any other governmental organization) asks you a question as part of a legal investigation, don’t lie! It’s really as simple as that. You don’t have to answer, usually, but for pete’s sake, don’t lie.

I think his biggest sin was rubber stamping Cheney policy.

Besides that, he was pretty mildly bad. Still bad.

I mean, using the same measuring stick Obama was a pretty mixed bag too. But way more charismatic, and made all the right noises to please left leaning (and right thinking) folks.

Oh, believe me, the Greatness has been zeroed out for awhile now. :sob:

he was and is a true believer in the neocon way. he chose the people he surrounded himself with, and he could have shown any of them - rumsfeld, cheney, rove included - the door at any time.

while on the one hand i think the person at the top is just a symptom of the times, they have a lot of leeway to steer the ship as they see fit. and the responsibility to go along with that.

the lot of them should be at the hague for their actions in iraq and afghanistan. not to mention his response to katrina, and the financial meltdown under his watch.

don’t let time and the mobster in chief make you forget how we got here in the first place.

I won’t get into it here, but on inspection, I don’t agree with what you wrote. I think there is blame to go around on most of those things. (Except for Iraq and Afghanistan; Cheney should be unironically shot in the face for those)

The overall quantity of blame might be rather more than you think, is my key point I am trying to make.

That video should be required viewing for everyone in the United States on their 18h birthday. Or 14th.

This is a dry run.

And he did show them the door, as by the end of 2007 Rumsfeld and Rove were gone and Cheney was sidelined. If you were to say that’s too little, too late I’ll happily agree, but it did happen.
