What many don’t see is that, territoriality, CA is quite conservative. The populace that doesn’t want to be around people that they perceive as not like they are live in less populace areas.
That has always been my attraction to such a viewpoint. Fewer people.
Me though, I would like to live in a sparsely populated area that was occupied by people that are not superficially like me. Where is that place?
maybe. it’s not good to have misinformation continuing on. ie. it’s important for the viewers if not the person seated in the chair.
a possible middle road: “what if i told you you were mistaken? what cnn reported was…”
less confrontational.
at any rate, i personally dont think these folks are stupid. i think they’re intentionally mislead. worse, they’ve put alot of selfworth into supporting him. they can’t change their mind without losing face. there are folks out there tho who need to hear the truth, and hear it loudly.
the podcast note to self discussed some of these, and one was people who can’t afford health care.
(yes yes, I know, they are voting against their interest etc.
but like Mark Blyth (in his talk on Global Trumpism says, your narrative is going from a well paid factory job in the 80s to a call centre that gets moved to India, and finally to working long hours at minimum wage at Walmart. You’ve heard the line from all the politicians who promise the same thing over and over - who are you going to believe the liar or the bullshit artist?
Worse, most people not only don’t know where to find x location on a map, they also don’t even know how to find or use the tools to find the answer to where a given location is.
Trump is exceptionally hard working, and an instinctive manipulator. Anyone doubting Trump’s ability to put in insane hours daily and obsessively work are just ignoring the facts. He doesn’t sleep much, rarely takes time off, and works through every vacation. He has put in a truly prolific amount of hours… but the important thing to remember is that he has this ability to work while achieving under the expectations of simply inheriting and investing his wealth in the market even if it is mostly because of losing an estimated 50-67% of his wealth in the past decade.
He’s widely considered to be an extremely successful “negotiator” simply by being the best at dragging smart people down to his level and beating them with experience. He also has zero hope against someone like Clinton who is able to sting him just enough to have him stalk around a stage for two hours or call her a nasty woman on national television, and it’s rumored his son in law is exceptional at convincing him that he thought of ideas himself simply by being what most of Trump’s fans would call a “cuck” and weathering the orange tide.
I understand that there are people with legitimate concerns out there. (Okay, that’s all of us.) But I still can’t understand how anyone could think Donald Trump of all people could or would address them.
My health care premiums are too high and they’re getting higher. Donald Trump will fix it! (Donald Trump will fix it? That guy? What the hell does he know or care about health care policy?)
So then I wonder, “What led Trump voters to believe that he was better qualified or more likely to fix these problems than Hillary Clinton?” And that’s where my thinking gets less charitable.
She lost the election. And il Trumpusconi will be President of the United States of America in January, 2017. Why would you – or anyone – crow about the rhetorical gifts of this disastrous failure? She. Lost. And we will pay the price for her hubris-ridden incompetence. And we will pay for the vicious, raging petulance of her supporters… who created the impetus for so many of the votes against her.
Chesterfield made his point again and again. Failure has no excuse. Not given what was on the line and what will happen to the most vulnerable among us when Trump’s paleocon Pharisee cabinet ascends to power. And yet you and many others here persist in buffing & polishing your halos in this very, very public venue.
