Neo-baroque on the inside and neo-classical on the outside. Because who needs consistency (or taste)?

Strongly disagree; the Trump supporters who came up with this have probably spent years researching the conspiracy theory-related positioning of said eagle head and are now fully unleashing its subliminal potential.

That’s who they are; fascist LARPers in love with style over substance.

I am trying to figure out what his grift is with these cards? Are they voter ID cards? Do you get one for an under $5000.00 donation? Will it get you into an Jeffrey Epstein sex club? What’s his angle?

What I really get concerned over is the constant linking of being a “patriot” with following/worshiping Trump.

This really scares me if he gets back in power.

“Let’s see your Patriot card there citizen.”

I think it’s that they’re $25 for a ten cent piece of plastic?
But there are plenty of ways they could go with this, so I guess time will tell… :grimacing:

In case folks aren’t familiar with this book, here is a good overview…

At some point, that distinction becomes meaningless. I’d gently suggest that since they’ve, you know, tried to pull off a coup, we’re well past that distinction mattering. What’s the old Vonnegut quote about pretending to be someone? You know. Also, to paraphrase another great American author, Maya Angelou, they are showing us who they are, and we should start believing them and taking the threat they pose seriously.

Also quite possible. But with this crowd the graphic designer could just as easily been some Trumper idiot who had only an aesthetic appreciation of its fascist qualities. It’s really hard to tell when they’re being deliberately and knowingly fascist, and just accidentally.

Got a citation there, bub?

I am not sure that “Oops! I accidentally did a fascism!” is a thing

ETA: Great, now Brittany Spears singing “Oops I did fash-is-em” is stuck in my head. I blame myself

Sure, I don’t mean to not take them seriously - just that the paranoid style is really into pointing out your ignorance of something, because they know something you don’t (you know … what they don’t want you to know …)

So having knowledge of which way the eagle’s head is facing and what that represents to them is a sign of higher thinking - they know what’s really up.

It’s their equivalent of gatekeeping or “do your research” - if you don’t know anything about the two eagles, how can you possibly educate me about insert topic here?

I show that one to my students, in fact.

I don’t know about that. That week I talk about the white supremacist movement since the end of the classical civil rights movement, and it’s not exactly a fun time. It’s difficult material, especially since my students are mostly people of color and often immigrants, so I always offer an alternative assignment in case they want to skip it.
