Trump will sign funding bill and declare national emergency in attempt to fund border wall

Settle down. I am sure when the Candycorn Skidmark drops trou to take a dump it’s a national emergency until the person who wipes his ass congratulates him on making a good poopie.

I think the “existing technologies” requirement is specifically being done to restrict Trump to building more steel slat fencing of the type that already exists, rather than attempting to pursue any of the prototypes they threw up in the middle of nowhere to great fanfare and then silently ignored when they all failed to meet the specifications.

Holy crap. I’ve seen that movie many, many times and just now noticed that she has a wrist/arm cast on!

I think we are talking past each other here.

What was originally stated was basically control of the purse belongs to congress, so Trump spending on a wall they didn’t authorize is unconstitutional.

I was saying, sadly congress declared that presidents can spend (under some restrictions) in an emergency, thus this isn’t unconstitutional, the authority for the spending flows from congress to the mockery of a president via the congressionally authorized emergency spending laws.

I’m not a lawyer, so maybe the right term for “ok, flimsy argument that it is justified by that law, but really, that argument will be shot down thus no laws from congress extend any authority, and the constitution says the authority belongs holy to congress…so unconstitutional!”

Hmmmm, ok, now I’ve mostly convinced myself that you are right

Can I go with conditionally unconstitutional?

Definitely.

I agree that we mostly agree. My point is mainly that the Emergency Powers Act doesn’t even apply, since Trump himself has consistently submarined his own position on this. If the 9th District gets involved, which would make sense given the geography, they seem to revel in shoving his face in his own bullshit.

I’m going to do my best to word this as straightforwardly as I can given the subject:

1 - Some individuals hold that illegal immigration is a bad thing, and despite the almost certain ineffectiveness of the proposal, supporting “the wall” on that basis is not against our community guidelines. I hope that’s clear.
2 - Some individuals hold that “the wall” will lead to less brown people (but of course, only the undesirable brown people) in the USA. Those people seriously better not post in this topic if they have any hope of subsequent membership here.

So, as usual, it’s a case of clairvoyant projection with these right-wing conspiracists.

To be fair, he did have holy powers. That makes it much easier to be generous.

Think about it, his dad was a big shot and Jesus barely even worked. He inherited and entire kingdom that has gates all around it and guards that man it. It even appears as it the wall is made of some sort of concrete material.

The analogy breaks down in the lack of a pee tape analogue for Christ and there being no resurrection for Trump.

Zombies don’t count.

Let’s hope that the resurrection doesn’t manifest in the form of re-election.
