This narrative actually plays into Trump’s defense in the New York case because his lawyers are trying to argue the purpose of the payoff was to avoid letting Melania hear about the scandal, not to influence the election.
This claim is obviously nonsense because she was already well aware Trump is a serial philanderer. That’s how they got together in the first place!
So while this story may superficially seem to be a case of the Enquirer running a story that is embarrassing for Trump it’s actually just the latest in a long series of incidents in which the rag is doing the bastard a favor.
