I dunno–yes, he’s clearly a joke to any reasonable person with a functioning brain in their head, but do you think a single one of his loyal audience listened to this nonsense and thought “this all sounds pretty implausible, I wonder what else has he has been lying about?” I’d wager against that and on the proposition that his audience takes him at his word and this is just another brick in the wall of their understanding of how the world is really stacked against heroes like them and Tucker.
I just don’t think these people care at all what the majority of people in this country think about them, and definitely not people like you or me or @gracchus; they only care about the cult.
This is another one of those things that we can all chortle at, but works perfectly fine for the intended audience. The base will walk away with vague notions that “everyone is talking about Hunter Biden” and something shifty must be going on there so I had better vote to keep that crooked family out of office. They aren’t trying to convince anyone of anything. It’s just sowing fear to mobilize the base.
It’s not a lot for a percentage of population, but it’s a whole hell of a lot for cable tv ratings. Though most people don’t listen to his rubbish, this indicates that more people are than ever before.
If the documents were that important, why weren’t they sent Registered Mail? That way if it was truly lost, there would be a paper trail, and the last person to touch it would be subject to an immediate and adverse “performance review” and likely looking for a new line of work.
Somehow I get that the immpression that the Fox News echo chamber is so effective that determining the original source of the sound is no longer within their capability.
So apparently a package was lost. What did it actually contain? Who knows?
And everyone involved with this project of Carlson’s forgot that they have phones which can photograph and send documents. And some of them have printers that can make copies and send them. But, ooops, no one - no one - made any copies of these important and damning documents, which are now lost forever because some ner-do-well at UPS stole them. The horror!
He was also picked up by Democratic aliens, taken on board their ship, and anally probed because they were looking for these documents to steal them, too. He took video of it all, but oooops, had a glob of lube on the lens. Damn. You’ll just have to believe him.
I would say that years of improper use of bowties gave him hypoxic brain injuries, but my dog chased away the cat scan that proves he even has a brain.
And it can be taken to any absurd length, too. I saw some Fox personality (I’m unclear if they work for Fox or are just a repeat guest) who was talking about how they had typed Joe Biden’s name in their computer and their internet went out, and how this was a Deep State conspiracy…
It’ll be interesting to see if the story mysteriously disappears after he gets the documents and they’re obvious bullshit, or if he’s shameless enough to go to air with them.
