Did nobody tell Tucker that “I sexually identify as an attack helicopter” is not…exactly…a pro-trans meme?
Given the greater risk of being killed by your own gun and the increased rate of suicide in trans youth, I can’t take the directly opposing opinion here.
I just wish we had a society where no one felt like they needed a gun, and regardless, if we took the right away things would be a whole lot safer for everyone.
I do not own a gun. I would be lying, though, if I said that the growing anti-trans sentiment and policies in this country haven’t made me consider it, because they have. I am, at heart, a pacifist, but I also have no desire to be killed anytime soon.
When fascists engage in hypocrisy and projection they take it to a level of clownishness beyond that of normal conservatives.
That’s pretty amazing, his complaining about “incitement” is itself incitement.
Of course, part of his message here is “All the trans people will be carrying guns – time to start killing them before they get a chance to kill us!”
i know this is all bullshit and all, but may i make an open appeal to such members of our community that when you get your F35 fighter jet…
may i pleeeese go for a ride along?
Possibly the only gun policy worse than the “plentiful guns for everyone!” status quo we have now would be “plentiful guns for fascists, but no guns for the vulnerable populations targeted by fascists.”
2023 and F*cker Tiresome finally realizes the inherent ridiculousness of right-wing 2nd Amendment arguments.
Bravo, genius.
This is honestly one of Tucker’s most masterful monologues. How seamlessly he shifts from “The Second Amendment is good” to “Trans people can have guns but it’s SCARY!” to “The government wants to arms trans people with fighter jets” (despite the 2nd Amendment and the government being literally in fucking opposition to each other by definition). And just casually peppering these jabs about Nazis all throughout it, simultaneously promoting NSC-131 with plausible deniability while also mocking people for believing than NSC-131 exists despite the fact that their presence is well-documented throughout New England!
And then, to top it all off, Tucker goes in with the logic of “Actually these TRANS PEOPLE are just trying to SCARE YOU to keep you submissive because the Democrats want to stop you from voting” — as he literally fearmongers about Trans People in fighter jets!
Just truly incredible bullshittery at work here.
I disagree. The gun nuts like to frame the Second Amendment as a way for citizens to protect themselves from the Big Bad Federal Government, but the logic behind that interpretation falls apart pretty quick.
First, the wording of the Amendment and the historical context in which it was written make it clear that the idea was to keep citizens armed in case the government needed to conscript a militia to fight on its own behalf, not to form an armed resistance against the nascent United States government.
Second, if the idea was that people might need to rise up and overthrow the Federal government then there wouldn’t be any point in enshrining the mechanism for doing so into the Constitution, since any armed uprising to overthrow the government would be tossing out the Constitution anyway.
I’d sign up for that service!
That’s not what his happening in that clip. As others above said, he’s inciting violence against trans people here, by claiming that they are becoming a threat to “real” Americans.
These fuckers are never going to speak straight and tell the truth. It’s a propaganda channel, and the goal of this kind of propaganda is to twist the truth to fit their worldview.
A fair point, though I’d take it further, and say that the logic behind every interpretation of the 2nd Amendment falls apart pretty quickly once you factor in the absurd grammatical structure of the whole fucking thing.
When I get my F-35, the BoingBoing community will be the first to know.
You gonna come pick us up for joy rides?!?
Obligatory:
Edit to add:
There were definitely some older gun control measures before the Black Panthers came on the scene, although they certainly spurred a bunch of scared, racist legislators into action.
Absolutely! I should probably get my pilot’s license first, though.
