Will they find out, though? tRump has an unprecedented fake news propaganda machine working for him - tied into his own cabinet - that could allow his supporters to exist within a bubble where they’re fundamentally unaware of tRump’s failures. Even if they’re aware things aren’t going the way they’d like, they could be seeing it all blamed on scapegoats.
It’s not about that - it’s about two things: tRump being a crazy idiot who does permanent damage without realizing it (e.g. by accidentally starting wars), and the perfect storm caused by tRump wanting to appoint truly despicable people and insane policies that he can get through because he has the Congress, and soon the Supreme Court. On top of which you have the cultural changes brought about by the emboldening of fascists and other racists, and the shrinking Republican party geared up to engage in even more massive voter disenfranchisement than they’re so far been up to, which could keep a party with an ever-shrinking minority of support in power. The end result could be some judicial rulings and power shifts (and shifting of the Overton window) that could take a number of decades to undo.
