That’s a pretty bold statement. Any gain that depends entirely on a single administration holding power forever was never a gain in the first place. It was simply a pacifying mirage. And that’s not a stance I accept.
Social progress will proceed forward and occasionally backward. But the overall progress has been forward over the decades.
There will be retrenchments that roll progress back. That is inevitable. The USA survived two terms of Reagan and three terms of Bush. It will survive Trump and, if the forces for progress don’t decide to roll over and pretend the world has ended, the US will make up the lost ground and forge new ground.
It happens every time.
