I know a number of twitter employees, and many of them have already been openly vocal for Elon taking over. Tech is weird. Companies have to foster that kind of diversity and communication that leads to what we hear all about with “left leaning tech”, and twitter doesn’t do that at all. Not even remotely.
I’d wager some managers and employees are already in communication and taking instruction/ product requests / feature requests directly from Elon and Elon’s team.
Twitter as a company has been consistently losing money almost all the time since it went public in 2013 (its only profitable years were 2018 and 2019), and it is not exactly clear how that could be changed. If I was a Twitter shareholder I would probably welcome a reasonable offer to take the stock off my hands.
If the stuff on Twitter was really representative of what most human interaction was like I’d just cut my losses and spend the rest of my life as a hermit.
The only part of me that wants this to come true is the accelerationist part. Apparently that part of me can be quite loud under certain circumstances…
I too believe we should be free to call anyone we don’t like a pedo and then get scammed out of thousands of dollars while feverishly attempting to save face
Bezos buying the Washington Post looks so ologarch v1.0 now… I love the deluded fanboi posts on Twitter of “finally, Musk is breaking up the social media monoply!”
