UK general election discussion thread - Post Mortem

Scotland votes are remarkable, even if they were expected.

Still waiting for ‘my’ seat of Erewash - I was expecting Labour to take it back from the Tories, not sure it will now.

Still hoping Farage and Galloway lose. Clegg and Miliband will be out of a job tomorrow.

The idea of the DUP being in coalition is bloody scary.

Galloway may be in deep shit, apparently he reported the exit poll results before the polls closed.

Yeah, he’s been reported to the police.

The SNP results are some of the few good points from tonight. Jo Swinson losing even made me smile.

Labour have finally gained some seats: Burnley and Ealing Central and Acton

Looks like Lab/Con virtually no movement, just LD wipeout and Lab wipeout in Scotland.

Another hour and a half before Clegg gets his marching orders?

Jim Murphy, the Scottish Labour party leader has just lost his seat.

Labour are reaping what they sowed by campaigning alongside the Tories in the referendum. Was a truly stupid decision.

Be interested to see what Peter Tatchell thinks when Simon Hughes goes.

There will be at least one LibDem safe seat left after tonight - Westmorland and Lonsdale

Okay, ~40 labor, 27 tories, Scottish national 26… Ukip negative eleventh billion.

Sin fein, 2. HAHAHAGAGA! Fuck you Nigel farage.

There’s their new leader.

Also, Ed Davey gone.

And there you go - sling your hook, Galloway.

When it happens can we make a GIF of it and use it as the new Donald Sutherland?

Wait, Donald is actually entertaining. Scrap that idea.

BTW, in Oregon every one votes by mail, and you get registered when you get an id or driving license (among others).

It rules. Me, my wife, and a few others debate the issues then send back anonymous ballots. It costs $0.42.

Fuck. Conservatives hold Carlisle.

Ugh… That’s a hard one. The referendum was… Messy. At least according to twitter, the guardian, tumblr, and bookface.

It honestly seemed like a Kobyashi Maru from this side of the pond. And nobody cheated (effectively).

Theres a non-SNP Scottish MP - and they’re a LibDem!

The SNP nearly won at Orkney and Shetland though.

The Tories are completely toxic in Scotland because of Thatcher and the Poll Tax. Get yourself tarred with that and you’re buggered. From what I’ve seen of Scottish Politics (admittedly, mostly from Stuart Cambell and Wings over Scotland - the ‘cybernats’), Labour are just seen as more Westminster cronies now.

The BBC’s swingometer keeps breaking whenever they go to the Scottish results.

And Erewash.
