This is one of the many things I find profoundly irritating about Truss.
The problem is not just that the ideas were shit, itâs that the economic theory (Laffer Curve) they are based on has been systematically debunked over the last few decades but Truss hasnât updated her understanding of economics since she finished her PPE undergrad 30-odd years ago.
I understood the ideas just fine, the problem is the conclusions that she drew were demonstrably wrong because she is profoundly ill-informed and has been massively compromised by right-wing think tanks.
The sheer arrogance that it must take to then turn around and say that everyone else doesnât understand your genius after you single-handedly fucked the economy, despite everyone with a better understanding of the topic warning you of exactly what would happen, is just breath-taking.
