UK Political Thread, part the second

I agree entirely, in principle, but in practice I want the fewest and smallest barriers to re-entry - we desperately need to be back in!

Agreed. I’ve said elsewhere here before that they are perhaps the last bastion of true investigative journalism (occasional issues from The Guardian, like the Uber files currently, aside) left to us here in the UK.
Take out a sub, now, people - you’ll be glad you did.

It is lovely, innit?
Unless you are one of the 100,000 card-carrying members of the Perfidious Party, you don’t get a say.
So we are going to be stuck with the horrible Hobson’s choice of Notax Sunak, Liz Thatcher or Penny Mordor.
We’re fucked.

While I like nothing about her, Thatcher was at least a competent, serious, human incarnation of selfish avaricious evil.

Truss derives from the Old French word trousse, from around 1200, which means “collection of things bound together”.[5][6]

been trying to think of a good collection of items to represent her.

The Mitchell and Webb sketch is so overused these days but how do they genuinely not see that they’re the bad guys when they literally want to withdraw from human rights treaties and allow torture?

The same way that the GOP here do that - they believe that human rights are only for SOME people, and not for ALL people. That’s the mindset of the right.
