The annual cost of all undocumented immigrants on local, state, and federal revenue loss is just under $3 billion - while the budget for ICE for 2017 was $3.2 billion. This is after Alabama’s strictest immigration policies had absolutely no impact on immigration, a negative impact on the economy, and raised state costs for enforcement exponentially.
There’s just no moral or practical reason to invest in targeting immigration.
