I don’t think that they are using scare quotes. They do often use quotation marks around individual words or very short phrases, but I think they’re just to show which specific words (in otherwise paraphrased text) were actually said by the quotee. [What would you call that? A quote quote, rather than a scare quote?]

Truth be told it’s been a while since I lived anywhere with a lot of WASPs. Most of the folks around my neighborhood are Asian-American.

For smaller indoor hex-shaped nests a quick burst of deodorant behind a lighter quickly de-wings them.
