Umm… does he sound drunk? Good points though.
you sure don’t. that’s why - at the risk of repeating myself - the constitution isn’t about granting rights. it’s about restricting government.
more to the point maybe, the founders were smart enough to not go into the origin of those rights. they knew that there were a lot of diverse, even divisive, opinions. and so they wouldn’t have rolled over in their graves for someone to say rights came from god. they would have rolled over to say rights came from government.
if the government has the right to grant things like human rights, it means they can just as easily be waived away. ( which happens enough already. ) the constitution was (ahem) revolutionary in that respect.
Thank you for your dedication!
Thank you!
I’m British and have no skin in this game. I also rarely watch political speeches this long. But I was sucked in and mesmerised. This guy is the business.
His delivery is as important in some respects as are his words. Please try to watch it. (Though if it is a logistical issue with bandwidth, you have my sympathy - watch a few minutes to get the tone at least, if you can.)
“Sir, according to these figures, we have more than a dozen viewers now!”
snatches paper from intern
“My god Willoughby, they’re watching. THEY’RE FINALLY WATCHING!”
what am I looking at?
am I missing a reference (apart from the obvious one)?
Wow. It has been a long time since some one has given a speech over twenty minutes that I wanted to listen to twice. A long fucking time.
I was joking. But thanks for the insight.
Why can’t I have a camera on Ted Cruz while he’s getting his ass handed to him?
I have to admit that the beard is an improvement over the unctuous face. Not by much, but still better.
