There stands a man of principles and faith. Now let’s wait and see where he is in two weeks. Also, some attention needs to be paid to where else he goes in that time.
Mayo Clinic’s tweet has since been deleted.
They’re in a no-win situation. Either they have to condemn Pence for violating the policy (thus enraging the MAGA crowd and endangering hundreds of millions of dollars in research funding) or they have to ignore his blatantly unsafe behavior (thus enraging everyone else and damaging their own reputation as a world-class healthcare provider).
I’m sure the Mayo Clinic would love to avoid partisan politics altogether, but in this day and age even the position “contagious diseases are bad and we should avoid spreading them” has become a hopelessly partisan issue.
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Pence wanted to wear one, but was told in no uncertain terms that he must not. This is beyond “Orwellian” - we’re going to need a more dystopian adjective.
The perfect running mate to Dolt 45. Where’s that biblical bolt of lightning when it’s really appropriate?
This will have to do:
While watching him arrogantly approaching workers inside of 6 feet, I craved seeing someone at least request that he respect social distancing rules if he wasn’t going to mask (THE FUCK) up.
I hope he’s too tough to wash his hands too. I hope he went straight back to the White House for an all hands on deck planning session.
Told by who?
Have security escort him from the property.
…is irrelevant. Their primary obligation is to their patients. That obligation was flushed down the toilet with their moral compass.
Yeah I’m not sure you understand how the Secret Service works. Which poor Mayo Clinic security schlub should have laid down his life for the sake of enforcing the mask policy?
“If Mister Pence arrives without a mask, we will not unlock the doors.”
What’s the SS gonna do? Shoot out the locks and drag everyone to the gassing trucks?
I’d be interested in knowing whether or not they are wearing PPE.
Motto of this crime syndicate: I don’t really care do u?
I don’t think that’s how visits from the VP usually work. The Secret Service shows up first to secure the area, THEN Pence walks in. It’s not like Pence just walked up to clinic and rang the doorbell. (Which is fortunate, because he probably wouldn’t wash his hands afterward if he had.)
And nobody in Mayo management had the grit to speak truth to power.
All medics present should be sent on a Hippocratic oath refresher course.
Exactly. It was a calculated PR stunt. With the Secret Service clearing the way, chances are greatly reduced for any contamination. Hell, they probably only cleared a ten foot walk in route just to be sure. Walk In, get photographed, turn around and walk out.
No-one can do anything about it? Sure they can. Refuse to let him in due to health and safety concerns for patients and staff and himself.
Can’t wait to see him do a “Boris”.
