Virginia gentleman doesn't need to know what Critical Race Theory is, he knows he is voting against it

I think the point about the name would be a good point if CRT had actually been a proposal for a public school curriculum, but it’s not. The thing is, GOPers went actively searching for the vaguest boogeyman they could most easily manipulate and whole-cloth inserted it as if it were for children. Saying CRT should have had a more child-friendly name is like saying we should call Calculus “curvey-shapes” so that it won’t make the parents of kindergarteners nervous.

They found that Racism Denial is a hell of a drug.

“…if voters in urban and rural areas acknowledged White privilege at the same rate, the urban-rural voting divide would be relatively small, just eight points. That the divide is actually 32 points speaks to the powerful role that racism plays in fueling this gap. Perhaps it’s no surprise, then, that Virginia Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin attacked the teaching of critical race theory, making it a cornerstone of his campaign.”

Rural small town confirmation bias is going to be a tough nut to crack with Murdoch proudly showcasing the racist rantings of Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson. “What? Me racist? No way.” Until someone can contradict him, interrupt his message and introduce other perspectives on conservative media. Repeatably.

Because civility demands that we treat both sides as equal, and we treat grown ass adults like toddlers scared of monsters under their beds, while at the same time propping up the system that convinces them that there are monsters under their bed. And instead of being reassured that there are no monsters under their beds, they rage out, because anyone who says there are no monsters must be on the side of the monsters.

An uncivil society would disincentivize social networks away from disinformation and rage bait (“disincentivize” meaning take the fuckers down), fire Fucker Carlson like they fired Donahue (for telling the truth about Iraq), and not give the conspiracy merchants any air. Just as a start.

I’m sick of playing nice with these dangerous idiots.
