There’s a difference between threatening to abstain and actually abstaining.
Besides, after four decades of hopelessness, having a last chance snatched away at the final moment is enough to make many throw up their hands in despair; at that point, it was fair to say game over, we’re all fucked in the end no matter what, and that’s just from looking at one single problem that business as usual won’t tackle, never mind a long list of others.
“Unsatisfied” by business as usual doesn’t begin to cover it; try ‘strangled’ or something.
One good thing about Il Douche: he makes it very hard to ignore how broken the system is.

For Oprah (or the Rock or any other celebrity) to assume the role of US President with no prior political office is pure selfish arrogance. If they have never crafted legislation of any kind or worked in partisan politics, to reach for the highest level political position in the world without any humble demonstration of how the political system works is an insult to the voters. Oprah please try to be a state legislator or a city mayor at the very least first to prove you care more than just “being the President”. It is an affront to not even try for anything else politically first.
