Don’t see the pun. Buckshot is sized to kill deer and named as such.

I was wondering how they had a pic of the broken antler (dead deer?) but in the linked news report you can clearly see the antler fly off, just after the shot, and hit the ground.

Er - Don’t think i this case either deer died. The one antler was shot off and they ran off to live another day, leaving the broken antler on the ground.

Those rangers are making the big bucks.
