Train engineers: IDGAF
I wonder what happened to the aircraft engine? The person filming was fortunate not to be killed by low flying wreckage. Of course, if they’d been filming in landscape, they wouldn’t have been in danger at all
Of course, occasionally some cops have to prove the exception to the ACAB rule, the bastards.
Well, we haven’t heard yet if the cops shot down the plane and robbed the pilot.
Hey, when the cops take money from a crashed pilot, it’s called civil forfeiture, not robbery, and it’s totally legal, ok?
Highway Cop, “Deploy the Stinger!”
“Let’s see, so you are claiming a total loss of your airplane?”
“Yes.”
“And it says here damage was caused by, am I reading this right, ‘Hit and destroyed by a train’?”
“It’s a long story.”
Planes, Trains and Automobiles…
No dashcam footage from the train? Disappointing…
More like “Physics won’t let us stop the train in time.” That’s who doesn’t GAF- Physics.
That is a really close call. More train track drama than Snidely Whiplash and Dudley Do-Right.
That guy had the best “worst day” ever.
The Grim Reaper said,
Then the pilot gets to moon death; nice way to wrap!
Needs moarr submarine or something…
…Although passenger trains being lighter, can usually come to a stop more quickly from a given speed.
I’m eagerly awaiting the timeline and details of how long it was from the crash (Ed.:or from likelihood of crash aware to air-traffic controllers) to police request for trains to stop until the incident. It sounds like there’s a communications-channel/chain-of-command issue there, that would create an incident far worse if a fuel-filled tanker trailer stopped at one of the many grade crossings on the tracks. How long does it take to make all the train signals red in an area? Is there a Positive Train Control (PTC) system that would trigger the brakes if a red signal were ignored by the engineer? Is there any along-the-track sensing that would provide in-cab signal warning of possible issues at upcoming intersections?
Do you think this might complicate the investigation of the reason the plane came down where it did?
Why did they remove him? If they waited another 5 seconds the plane (or parts of it) would have become airborne again.
But seriously… dudes - that is a really really dumb place to stand.
