Watch: Outrageous hotel owner in Michigan calls woman "piece of sh*t" and kicks her out when bathroom leaks

It would light up like a Jackson Pollock painting :open_mouth: Maybe one could take a picture and sell an NFT of it…

I’d pay a lot of money not to see that!

(And when I say money, I mean an NFT of the money.)

Wow, that is a straight up crap write up by the Detroit News.

The Grand Hotel, like many northern Michigan resorts, is heavily dependent on seasonal workers from other countries — its 750-person staff includes 300 foreign workers who arrive in the spring and return home in the fall, without costing a single American his or her job.
[emphasis added]

What a load of crap. That’s the premise of the H2B visas, but not the reality, as we’ve seen with Mar-a-Lago which went to great lengths to not hire domestic workers so they could pretend none were available in their application for H2B visas.

Also, the Detroit News claims of Lieghio’s inability to hire workers in Mackinaw City: “The pay isn’t the problem”

BS. Of course pay is the problem. He’s just not willing to actually pay enough to attract the workers he needs to work in the conditions he offers, and instead applies for H2B visas for underpaid foreign workers, claiming “nobody will work for me, wahhhhhh”

Or, at the very least, a season of Fargo should be dedicated to it.

Better book a room in Indian River or St. Ignace instead!

@Lanthade: May St. Barbara work her magic.

I gotta watch local news tonight, there’s bound to be some follow up!

Looks like the guy got fired.

From the link: "“Although family is of the utmost importance to us, the way he acted was wrong,” Joe Lieghio said. “We don’t take the decision to get rid of him lightly.” Probably also said “But it was literally the least we could do, so that’s what we did.”

The overnight manager was fired? Thanks upper management! That will magically make the disgustingly filthy hotel run under all of your sketchy policies magically better…

And wasn’t he Family? So fired means move him someplace else. OK I should probalby read the link which I shall do now.
Edit: having read I still think RICO investigation should be opened on this family. Cause we all know what long term harm can come from criminal families who own hotels

He talks about how much they can make in tips, but do they get to keep all of their tips? (And that’s the staff that can make tips.)

Yeah, that bit seemed very bait and switch. “Bartenders can make a crapload of money in tips! So why won’t people do seasonal work for minimum wage cleaning rooms? It makes no sense!!! Nobody wants to work! And the pay is not the problem!!!” “Have you tried offering more pay?” “Of course not!”

-Or something like that.

No, you haven’t created jobs until you can pay people to work them.

What are the odds he was simply relocated to another Lieghio property, like a rogue LEO?

Or a pedophile priest. Seems pretty likely. Especially since he has probably always been like this at their crappy properties during his 25-year long stint as an employee. It’s entirely consistent with their terrible policies and filthy hotel rooms.

A mastermind of the business world. Michigan has more Democrats than Republicans.

How does your second sentence have any connection with the first?

I don’t know what renters law is like in America. In Australia even if it were considered a rental (and let’s be clear, it absolutely would not and claiming it was would open you up to at the very least civil penalties) it would be his responsibility to pay for something like this in most instances, and urgently for that matter. Doesn’t stop landlords TRYING mind you.

Recall what he said about the lady being a Democrat (as an insult).

Hotel rooms are not “rentals” under Michigan law, and even if they were, it is absolutely the hotel’s responsibility to maintain their building, not a guest’s or “renter’s” responsibility. Nothing Jackass Nightclerck said is true or legal.

I hope the Attorney General’s office has had their interest piqued by this fiasco going viral. Something is quite rotten in Mackinac City.
