As a horny and geeky adolescent, I remember looking forward to watching this late at night on the Z Channel. I also remember how disappointed I was upon its failure to deliver on what I assumed was its promise. I think I’d enjoy it much more now than I could have then.

Saw that in the theater when it was released. Probably should revisit to see if it holds up.

“It appears to be some kind of penisaurus!”

The 70’s were full of this type of stuff. The porn industry loved to do campy, x-rated ripoffs of other media. Not that I’d, uh… know. cough

And all this time I thought I was “the Rightful Heir to the Throne of Porno.”

The film makers should sue Bezos.

My uncle (unwittingly) took me and my brother to see this at the drive-in. I would have been 11 at the time. Ahhh, freerange youth of the 70s.

Ah, yes…The midnight movies when I was just out of high school. Flesh Gordon, Pigs vs Freaks, Wizards, Fantastic Planet…They just don’t make movies like those anymore.

NB the big green stop motion animated creature didn’t originally have any lines, he was just supposed to grunt. They added dialog for him and had to match it to his already animated lip motion.

I don’t know who’s playing the lead, but he’s a better actor than Sam J Jones.

Wallace Woods rule of drawing:

  1. never draw what you can copy
  2. never copy what you can trace
  3. never trace what you can cut out and paste down

As I remember it being told to me across a drafting table in 1979.

Once seen, you can not unsee it. “Dr. Flexi Jerkoff” was our go to remark when I was in military school if you needed to go to the base Doctor, the Doctor was not amused with our juvenile antics.

I saw Wizards at the Atwater in Montreal in the afternoon. At first, because of all the parents and kids, I was thinking I’d made a mistake, but a few minutes in, and a horse-thing with its eye hanging out, the kids and I thought it was great. The parents were getting uneasy…

I saw this at my university’s theater when they were running some soft porn movies on their Wednesday night cinema series. If I remember correctly, in a this movie, they came across cave of Penisauris (es) or something like that. Large worm like creature that come up out of the ground with heads that looked like, well you know! Campy fun for sure.

This was the first “porn” I saw at the tender age of 13 or 14. Starlog Magazine released a book on special effects which included some photos of Greg Jein’s model work for Flesh Gordon, and as I was keen on getting into special effects at the time, I convinced my parents to rent it for me. They did, they watched it first, and decided that it wouldn’t warp my young mind, so they let me watch it by myself. The model work and effects were phenomenal for the budget, and the humor was very well suited to my teenage brain. The “porn?” Well, that worked for my teenage brain, too. Good memories.

That said, I wonder how this trailer is still on YouTube without age restrictions.
