This is why white nationalists evangelicals support Trump. His stated views line up with their own. They also want to “punish sluts” who challenge male authority by acting as independent human beings outside of that authority. They view a women’s sexuality not as her own, but as something to be controlled by the men in her life, because she can’t be trusted with it.

That’s the problem, though. They are not just ignorant or knuckle dragging cavemen. They are pretty sophisticated, modern subjects who are using modern tools to create a modern theocratic movement that aims at nothing less than taking over the US.

I always felt like this is not Trump’s actual position*. He adopted the anti-choice position to suck up to evangelicals, but the problem was, Trump didn’t really know the actual details of the position, so he’d make something up that he thought was consistent when asked. Which led to him saying this but not knowing he was going beyond what evangelicals would admit to wanting. (Obviously many anti-choice evangelicals do want women jailed, but they’ve been very careful not to say it in public.)
*He’s historically been pro-choice in that he doesn’t want any women he gets pregnant having children he’ll be responsible for - but he also doesn’t personally care what the laws are and how they impact others, assuming (correctly) that his wealth can except him and his.

Men in the USA, we should be shouting as loud as our partners, mothers, sisters, and friends right now, and into the Midterms, then beyond to the 2024 elections.
Women already have to shoulder the burden of abortions.
Don’t make them shoulder all the burden of fighting for the right to have them too.
This is our fight as well.
