I’ve been doing the same on LinkedIn. At first, maybe 1 out of 20 or so would get their comment removed. Lately my ratio has been more like 1/5. There was a particularly vile thread where about 75% of my flags were upheld.
That was a good day.

So they’re telling me, ‘Take the jab or we take your job.’
That’s absolutely correct, motherfucker. Because you don’t have a right to a six-figure job as an anesthesiologist.
That was what really got me too. I had to have a procedure done on my trachea a couple months ago, and despite being fully vaccinated (which they had on my record) I still had to undergo the really bad COVID test where they reach all the way through. Worst one I’ve ever had. Why? Because they were going to put me under general anesthesia and then go down my throat. If the patients have to follow COVID safety protocols, then so do the medical staff, and for the same reason.
Hey, even I can do that, as long as waking them up again afterwards is someone else’s problem.
Not that any of this is about logical sense, but the cognitive dissonance of toxic libertarianism ™ never ceases to amaze me.
In the employment context, freedom as this guy thinks about it means at will employment, zero wage protection, no unemployment checks from the government, and transferring 100% of the social risk onto the least powerful member in the employer-employee arrangement. If he isn’t happy, he is free to negotiate a better deal with some other employer. He has no economic rights. What is happening to him IS freedom.
This guy is just used to being on the powerful end of the arrangement and doesn’t like being told what to do. He lives in a country that tolerates his personal decision to spew hateful anarchist garbage and has available to him a media environment that amplifies and validates his dripping privilege. He is Karen, MD. He just doesn’t like feeling what it feels like to be a fry cook or a warehouse picker. Freedom!
And he lives in the most powerful and wealthy country in a world where there are people literally born into slavery, and thinks he did something to deserve it, and has the right to complain about the most minimal of societal conditions on his standing to maintain his unbelievable good fortune. God forgive him his ignorance, because I won’t.
As an anesthesiologist, he should have intimate knowledge of respiratory physiology, and as the intubators and ventilators, you’d think this guy would want to be first in line for a vax.
I know an anesthesiologist down here in the OC, and he’s been crapping bricks since the beginning of the pandemic. Slept on a cot in the garage away from his family until there was a vaccine. Tells stories of how so many of his colleagues got covid just due to the unavoidable exposure to people’s respirations as a part of the job.
If this guy, as an anesthesiologist, wants to rant against lifesaving science/medicine, he should be free to do so… just without his specialty college accreditation or medical license.
All of this, but especially…
Honestly, no clue. But I am bitter enough at this point to give no benefit of the doubt to them.
But to be disingenuous, he has to be aware of what he’s doing. I’d say more: deluded.
We are in the middle of another (indeed, the original) pandemic: one of mass delusion.
And there’s no vaccine, nor imminent cure, for this one.
I know of a second anesthesiologist, also an anti-mask advocate, also encouraging vaccine hesitancy. And a 9/11 truther. Maybe long term occupational exposure to sedative gasses has caused some issues?
What about Dr. Lapdog in Florida? He’s the same.
Also former UCLA, IIRC. Something in the water there?
Give it time. Remember, he’s anti-vaxx.
Not only is Mel a psycho dickhead to other humans IRL, he’s a lousy rider. Look at him bouncing on that poor horse’s back. What a jerk.
That shirt alone should get him axed
Doctors and scientists are also just people. It’s why the best course is always to follow the greater scientific and medical consensus. Science is not any one person. It is an institution and a process specifically designed to compensate for human flaws which we all have.
I know everyone here gets this, but it’s the point that anti-vaxxers, alt-medicine people, etc never to seem to grok. You can always find one (or a few) person(s) somewhere with credentials who believes the crazy thing you want to be true.
Among professional number crunchers, doctors are notorious as “smart people who don’t get stats”.
I don’t buy that. I had a year-long prescription for a medication that had noticeable side effects, I talked with my doctor about it. He said the drug had done its job after a few weeks so I technically didn’t need to continue it, but the studies had shown a reduced chance of death by about 2 percent of people after a year. He thought made it worth taking for the rest of the year, but understood my concerns about the side effects and said “now that you understand, it’s your choice.”
He understood the meds that he was prescribing, and the statistics behind why they were worth it. He made the decision to prescribe a longer course than strictly necessary, because he has a responsibility to err on the side of caution.
He understands statistics because that’s a key part of his job.
Dr. Vaxhole Anesthesiologist, on the other hand, never uses statistics because understanding them apparently never applies to his job. Routinely quoting “1 percent of people experience X symptoms” to scared patients being wheeled into surgery is little different than reading them their rights under Miranda, and requires no practical knowledge of statistics.

Exactly.
I had to get what I assume was the same test you got where they swab the back of your brain through your nose a couple days before I had my colonoscopy not too long ago.
I was pretty happy with the vaccines being free, but this dipshit gets offered 400k+ a year to take it and says “no”. The antivax speaking circuit must pay well.
