I can think really quickly of so much of Jack Kirby’s work, his characters, his style and how much of that has become common lexicon in the US and now by the reach of the MCU, much of the world.
Though I rad a bunch of Warren Ellis in the past, I cant remember a single character or story from his work.
Kirby’s work felt to me as a child and as an adult to be not only unique but also expansive. All I can remember of Ellis is sarcasm.
The Pioneer probes seemed like a Really Big Deal in their time and so representative of the ideal of discovery that Space held at the time. Seems pretty much in line with Kirby’s work.
It looks like great WW2-style nose art for a starship.
