Good design and lack of viruses. Generally my complaint (as a long time apple user) is that some feature I’ve grown accustomed to (Firewire, DVD drives, iphone headphone jack and home button etc) get eliminated as superfluous. But down the road I realize I’m never using that old feature and realize, OK maybe they were ahead of the curve there -Their focus usually being on simplicity and ease of use rather than complex overstuffed tech. Yeah they are expensive, but then again I’ve been using the same laptop for 7 years (yes with firewire and a disc drive) and iphone (with headphone jack and home button) for 4 - you don’t always have to upgrade just cuz of peer pressure if the product is good. Kinda nice that they don’t charge for OS upgrades anymore like they did in the old days.
and no, I’m not gonna run out and buy this new mac. My old one is still working great. maybe if I was working at pixar and needed to render enormous CGI files… but I’m not.
I read that as “consistent design”, good design would actually innovate and float new features, instead of just copying everyone else a few years after they’ve got it perfected. Also fewer viruses may have been true 20 years ago, but since it’s all done in the browser these days, it doesn’t really matter.
ach, Benchoff again…maybe he thinks his style is somewhat sophisticated driving trollies
Brian Benchoff says:
Satire isn’t the right word. Parody isn’t either. This is performance art, and you’re the art.
I’m serious. This is what people — you people — want to read. Current stats on this post sho it has twice as many views as the main page. It’s beating every other ‘hack’ here by a factor of three. This is idiotic, and it’s what people want.
You could say the ‘art’ in this ‘performance art’ is in three parts. First, create something stupid, which I’m really good at. Second, watch this stupid thing become popular, which it did. Third, sit back and admire the downfall of civilization. I am the painter and you are my canvas, it’s just a shame my only paint is retard green.
jaja, brian, youd played us, alright, very funny.
What an insufferable douchebag.
What I wanna know is… are the “cheese grater” holes actually holes? It looks like they are on the back of the monitor also. I can just imagine all the dust that collects in there and is impossible to clean…
What, you don’t have a detailer for your electronics on your household staff?
Apple strips clips of WWDC devs booing that $999 monitor stand from the web using copyright claims. Fear not, you can listen again here…
Blimey, Apple’s re-invented the Radius Pivot…
