Christ, what an asshole.
As long as he keeps doing the great work he’s doing I couldn’t care less if he thinks the earth is flat.
People insist that Musk has his (narrow) area of competence in which he’s a genius, but seeing some of the nonsense bullshit he’s been spouting lately, I’m convinced now that even that’s wrong. Instead, I think he got wildly lucky with Ebay, doing something that didn’t remotely require any genius, and got enough money to hire people who knew what they were doing at Tesla and SpaceX, from what I’ve read. So at best he’s a competent programmer and self-promoter, but otherwise a total idiot.
That may be true, but more immediately there’s apparently a $750 million bonus for him that’s linked to Tesla’s stock price, something that’s not going to happen if the stock market softens up with continued lock-downs.
How many people have to die before you stop thinking he is doing a good job?
He makes cars. And satellites. He does a great job at that. And he’s done more to kill ICE cars than anyone else on the planet. Great work! And he’s not in charge of policy for COVID in any way. I really don’t care what he thinks about the quarantine or anything else, and I’m sympathetic to his frustration, he must be under unimaginable pressure. Almost every business owner I know says the same thing. Doesn’t mean I agree with what he’s saying of course, but no biggie, especially compared to hastening the demise of the ICE car.
What do Musk’s boots taste like?
Nope. His employees design and build them. And robots. Musk markets cars and satellites. And I’ll concede he has definitely done a great job at marketing teslas to the urban rich. Lots of people had the idea to make electric cars. Musk was just the guy who bought out nearly all the competition so that he could monopolize the space. What an innovator.
Nah. He’s upset that his personal wealth is collapsing with the stock market because as we all know poor unfortunate multibillionaires don’t keep their fortunes in liquid assets or tangible goods. As if that is supposed to make us feel bad about taxing or fining them. It is frankly absurd for you to try and sympathize with someone like Musk. It’s like a single ant sympathizing with all the anteaters in Argentina.
Very debatable. At a minimum he’s crucial to the project, even if he’s only the marketing guy (again, debatable). If you’re worried about climate change, as I am, I can’t imagine not seeing him as a massive force of good, warts and all.
It would be incredibly hard for anyone to do enough harm with a few words to significantly offset being one of the leaders of the company that’s done more to combat climate change than other company in the world, that I can think of at least.
Tesla stock is up like 10% in the last few days, so something tells me it’s not quite that simple…
You can’t consume your way out of climate change. The only success we’ve had so far is through regulation of industry. For instance, the fossil fuel extraction and refining and energy industries produce more carbon than literally everything else combined.
Jesus, you are simping hard for corporate greed. Corporations don’t fix climate change. Capitalism can’t fix climate change. The major operating principle of capitalist enterprise is to make everyone else pay the externalities for your production.
Transportation may indeed be a big contributor to carbon, but the way to fix that is with regulation. Not capitalism. I can name ten governments that have done more to mitigate climate change than any corporate entity.
TL;DR looking to massive multibillion dollar corporations to save the planet is stupid because massive multibillion dollar corporations were the ones who got us here, and all of their priorities are to make as much money as absolutely possible no matter the consequence. Their very nature is orthogonal to ethics and morality.
You know he doesn’t personally build any of those things, right? And those things will continue to be built by his companies and others even if he steps down from his current position?
He’s significantly (but of course not solely) responsible for the existence and popularity of Tesla. And those cars have massively sped up the adoption of EV’s. And as someone concerned with climate change I’m cheerleading for EV’s. It’s really that simple. He’s done a ton of good. And his opinion about the quarantine doesn’t affect that in the slightest.
If you care so much about climate change then you might want to reconsider being so supportive of massive corporate interests that in practice treat the planet as an infinite resource well and that can only survive by constantly increasing the resources they exploit.
He’s also significantly responsible for everything wrong with the Tesla, including a price point that is well beyond the means of most consumers, a frankly irresponsible approach to self-driving technology and a business model that pushes for more private vehicle ownership over efficient transportation solutions.
But even if you see him as a modern-day Henry Ford, remember that the automobile industry survived just fine after that racist bastard kicked the bucket.
We should all read this sentence until we fully understand it.
I don’t think in his future we own these vehicles.
I think we rent them through an app.
Or maybe they’ll rent us? A captive audience is a terrible thing to waste.
don’t forget to add harassment and dangerous working conditions to that list
Ok, you have any insight what exactly Musik is doing? Apart from talking a lot of crap and taking credit for other people’s work?
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Musk is actually a lot like Trump, so I guess after a ramp up time it would pretty much be the same.
You missed out, “self-cleaning”; please say these crewless, autonomous transports will be self-cleaning.
There is only one Presidentially Endorsed Delivery System.
Perhaps he’s like Steve Jobs Mk1? Jobs saw the potential for microcomputers, saw the market for an intuitive interface and built Apple into a monster. But he was a destructive asshole whose antics threatened the company, so he had to be removed in order for Apple to survive.
Maybe Tesla has outgrown Elon Musk?
When they pushed out the latest update- they finally made Elon fully self incriminating.
Seriously dude - go pedo yourself.
