The linked article isn’t available in my country (UK) - I was wondering if it specified how the police report was contradicted by the video
So why did the cop point a gun at William? “Officer Nevarez wrote in his report that the driver ‘looked mad with his hands clenched in the air,’” the story states. “The officer’s video shows Albrecht’s hands raised in the air, following the officer’s commands.” The story even shows a video still with William’s hands up in the air … unclenched.
I feel sorry for the dog.
As the old saying has it, there’s a leopard for every face.
I bet the cop is sad he didnt get to shoot it.
“Butbutbut, I’m white!” well, they came for the trans, you said nothing, because you were not trans. Etc.
I hope the ACLU hits him with “Oh, you are actually lucky”, then with a list of what could have happened based on decades and decades of what has happened to others in such stops.
… cops think we’d be prettier if we smiled more
So the officer pointed the gun at the vehicle and order the driver out, because he knew that after the driver got out the driver was going to then display hostile behavior? (that he never displayed)
I honestly don’t know why we give any credence to anything written in police reports.
Even with a human medical emergency, you can’t count on a police escort in situations like this. While there are instances where the police have decided to provide an escort, they are more likely to tell you you should have called for an ambulance. For a sick pet? Yeah, they’re not going to give you an escort. Your best bet is to stick to the speed limit, or as close to it as you can, and try to not get in a wreck. Speeding is not likely to actually get you there faster enough to make a difference anyway.
None of that excuses the officer here for pulling his gun. That’s ridiculous. ACAB.
Welcome to your taxpayer dollars at work.

The suspect smiled, and bared their teeth, as if preparing to lunge, and then bite…
Cops… just enough wasted intelligence to be able to think like that; but none of the proper morality to do so.
Since when do cops order a driver out of the vehicle? I have never seen that happen, and I thought it was against their policy. The first time I got pulled over as a teen driver, I didn’t know that, and got drawn down on for getting out of the car.
-
Every police department is a separate institution, so they have different policies
-
Policies are only enforced by their superiors, not by ordinary people arguing about it
-
Policy Number One is “do what I say” and that’s the main one they care about
-
It’s not your fault that a cop brandished a firearm at you
There are plenty of Americans getting shot by the police without disembarking from their car.
I wonder if the driver is now also receiving lots of character attacks and accusations of frivolous lawsuits from his fellow back the blue tribe?
You are never supposed to get out of the vehicle unless ordered to do so.
You are never supposed to stay in the vehicle unless ordered to do so.
If you are ordered by one officer to stay in the vehicle and the other to get out of the vehicle, you are supposed to tear yourself in half and do both so that they don’t have to.
I think the most important thing is to not respond with any fear or anxiety to the irate person screaming at you and brandishing a deadly weapon. Stay calm and completely rational, but not so calm and rational that you are obviously hiding something and a threat.
