I was going to say, every dot com who went under post 9/11 blamed their woes on it. (Though to be fair, many of those died because the dot com boom was a bubble ready to pop.)

I don’t know what sort of aftermath a terrorist attack like that would cause, but it wouldn’t be good. It probably depends on the direct reaction.

It will be interesting to see if they are related. If so, it’s nice to see the authorities taking white supremacist terrorist seriously.

He’s trying to look like a sniper while wearing a CVC helmet.
He’s got a bottle of diet pills in one of those front mag pockets.
He’s wearing carriers that are not large enough to hold magazines for the weapon he’s holding.
This guy got his ideas on how to gear up from Hollywood. He is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Our generally shit global economy today stems in large part from 9/11, though, is my point. In general having violent and unstable situations are bad for the economy, because it’s harder for people to do normal things - unless you’re an arms dealer, I guess, but if your entire economy is based on arms sales, then… well, your entire society is kind of fucked, and you need to change it to a more humane one.

And carrying a gun which can’t be used on most ranges within NYS

Maybe? The local range built by the Missouri Parks and Wildlife, while only 100 yards, I believe is rated for up to .50 BMG. I know a local indoor range is rated that high, but good god, who wants to shoot that indoors? So this guys range might be rated that high.

At any rate, NYS hasn’t banned .50 cals. Yet.

There is no way a weapon like that is allowed in a range in the NYC Metro area. NYC ranges are all indoors and generally (but not always) pistol only.

I know in Long Island they would not be allowed on the public ranges. Not legally banned so much as against the rules of the range. The only public range in NY’s Nassau County bans full jacket ammunition because it rips through the backing. .50 BMG poses a public hazard to the one in Suffolk County because it is not sufficiently isolated from residential areas for such weapons.

My guess is if he does use it in NYS, its upstate, in an area with a lot of space.

hrm.

the current us debt i think can be traced to the two wars that bush started using 9/11 as an excuse

( still a worse president - if possibly a less hateful person - than 45, even tho it gets closer to a tie everyday )

the bigger crash ( also on shrub’s watch ) i’d argue was due to the real estate bubble - and i don’t think there’s a direct link to 9/11, even tho both in their way were fallouts from capitalism off the rails

9/11 contributed only i think in that people here doubled down on the idea that america can do no wrong

i honestly don’t think it started any inflection point in our national character or prospects. if anything, i think it just inured us against changing course

I agree, but I don’t know if things would have spiraled out as bad and as long if it had not been for 9/11 prior to that and its impact on the economy.
