That is the same conclusion that I’ve come too as well. Lots of people saying that Comey is not partisan and that’s only true if you think there are only two sides in DC. He’s partisan in that he’s on a third side, his side. Sometimes that happens to align with democrats, sometimes it happens to align with republicans, sometimes it even happens to align with the truth. But in all of those cases its just coincidence.

Best case scenario his “party” is properly conducted, independent, law enforcement and intelligence work. And guys like Comey can absolutely back and foster that. But he’s a factor of his environment. The minute there is more risk to a Comey, personally, from doing things right than doing them wrong. Or even out and out doing them evil. A Comey is going to start doing wrong. So functionally his position is covering himself first, his superiors second, and his people third. All else is negotiable/spinable.

And it’s absolutely not about convincing people like you that these sorts of things make them a better news network than most! No sir! Just normal news here! Not at all a Russian government owned mouth piece for Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin’s personal interpretation of the facts! Totally not a key feature of their intelligence and disinformation strategy! They have Thom Hartmann!

I thought this article on Politico was an interesting take on McMaster’s moves on the NSC. Brent Scowcroft had a visit from McMaster recently and look what just happened.
“In 1987, Scowcroft also co-authored the Tower Report, named for then-Sen. John Tower, which reviewed the NSC process and structure in the wake of revelations that staffers violated American policy and law.”
