I don’t think that’s what “single-handedly” means.

I really don’t want to know what she thinks “single-handedly” means.

I watch this and think… “OK, Meghan McCain likes cocaine.”

The look on Whoopi Goldberg’s face… In that moment she was all of us.

“[silence] Okay” is pretty much the only reasonable response to that nonsense. I was trying to get into what McCain was saying to pick it apart, but there’s nothing there. It’s a lot of words amounting to nothing.

But one thing I’m picking up is that Meghan McCain is against the idea of unearned benefits based solely on being descended from a, shall we say, political dynasty, because MM is apparently one of the least self-aware people out there.

It fits in with “our revolutionary counterparts”. Opinions seemingly based on her “stream of consciousness”… only the stream is polluted and filled with dead fish.

Do you think she’ll change her mind when she realises that the only British people who want to get rid of the royal family are communists, anarchists, socialists and Liberal Democrats?

Those words are potentially all too long for Ms. McCain to comprehend. The concepts are definitely too complicated.

She might understand “Liberal Democrats want to cancel the Queen of England” even if she doesn’t understand that British Liberal Democrats are not the same as US liberal Democrats.

Well, I’m sure there’s a smattering of Royalists who want to depose them in favor of the Hapsburgs… /s

You might be joking, but you did remind me about there being a few Jacobites around who would make this guy King of Britain

I heard a Brit say once they should chuck the Windsors and elect Stephen Fry to be their king instead

I’m not sure if that technically qualifies as republicanism or not

Actually, the UK’s constitution in 1776 was more or less the same as it is today, at least in the sense that Parliament was running the show by that point.

It’s a murky issue though. If you want to know when Garbage Island stopped being ruled by kings, the formal answer is “not yet”, though some might say 1649, or 1215. TBH the whole arrangement is based on not thinking too hard about that question.

What about 7th April 1141?

I mean, I think we should cut McCain some slack on this count. It’s a mistake anyone could have made.
