"Why I Take All My First Dates to Olive Garden"

Well, then how do you tell how bad your natural disasters are! Also, where do you get your hashbrowns scattered and smothered?

Well where I am now… Is there at least a Starbucks open where I can get an espresso I suppose.

Isn’t there like at least 3 starbucks near all of us? Where I am, there are 2 stand alones, one in a target, and one in a B&N within a mile of each other. Only 3 waffle houses (and one Dennys and one IHOP).

Hah. Lets see Safeway, QFC, Target, Barnes & Noble, and 3 proper Starbucks (one of which is in the same mall as Barnes & Noble) that I can walk to.
And happily one independent coffee house.

Weirdly, I think we have one of those near us too, which I just found out about and have not tried yet… Not within walking distance, since I’m in the rural burbs…

I read the article, and at first I thought it was a lighthearted tongue-in-cheek piece, but by the end I saw this as a decidedly dark Groundhog Day-esque tale (and possibility a cry for help (only partially kidding here)).

My parents’ first date was apparently a burger at a Husky gas station (which I suspect is a Canadian thing). It seemed to work for them, their 50th anniversary is this fall.

Source: have eaten there more than once. It’s affordable. I will give it that much.

During snowpocalypse up here the 3 local coffee shacks near my place were all operating on normal hours, so I knew everything would be okay.

Worse. It seems like she wants the dates to fail (after, perhaps, a hook up or make out session in the car). It’s nice that you can be so honest about wasting people’s time these days.

Taking the story a little bit personally, aren’t ya?

Nothing says “I think you’re special” like “this is where I take all of my first dates, none of which I had any expectation of seeing again.”

In a pub quiz in Edinburgh once, I learned that Fosters is the largest selling beer in the United Kingdom. This was in the late 90’s, so capnjimbo’s comment was apropos.

Actually I preferred VB to Foster’s when I was in Australia many moons ago. Not that that says anything about my uneducated American palate.

I love how there will be a Starbucks in the parking lot of the grocery store … which will have a Starbucks inside.

Always, always, ask a local, preferably several!

My parents have always been cagey about how they met.

It was the 70’s so I haven’t pushed it.

If we’re doing this, we need the Keaton Patti tweet in here as well.
