They’re probably the least racist people the press will ever interview, they can tell you that. The future king probably can’t understand why anyone would ask him such a racist question. To say that terrible thing is so very insulting to them…

In related news, leopards have confirmed that they’re really not that spotty.

Okay, granted, but if you average that out over the whole family…
Nope, still racist.

“…very much [checks notes] NOT a racist family.”

You still have Princess Michael of Kent doing overtime. There are probably British fascists who are upset that she can’t become monarch because she is Catholic. Her husband is 49th in line to the throne though.

Let me ask my recently immigrated Irish friends, I take their word over a royal.

A rich, elitist, racist family in the equal-rights utopia that is Great Britain?
Inconceivable.

It would be a bit unbecoming, almost vocational, for them to get their hands dirty being racist personally when there are specialists in the, um, ‘media’ available for that.

What would you expect him to say? “Why yes, quite racist indeed.”

As a black woman, American, I have always found it interesting that some white person, man or woman, can look me in the face and say, “Why no. It’s not possible for me to be racist.” And yet, that very individual is prolific in spouting revisionist history, meaning black lives were in peril from the very start of this country, to “I lost that job to an unqualified POC.” The assumption here is that all white people are qualified whereas POCS (BIPOCS) are only qualified because laws were passed to level the playing field.

Isn’t the entire premise of a monarchy that certain people are inherently superior to others (or in the very least, better fit to rule than others) by virtue of ancestry? It’s hard to imagine any way that premise doesn’t come with a certain amount of racism baked in.

“We’re not a racist family”

Princess Michael, dressing to meet her new, African-American in-law for the first time:

The famous “wit” of Prince Philip:

“If you stay here much longer you’ll all be slitty-eyed” (to a group of British students during a royal visit to China)
“It looks as if it was put in by an Indian” (referring to an old-fashioned fuse box in a factory near Edinburgh).
“Still throwing spears?” (question put to an Aboriginal Australian during a visit).
(Etc., etc.)

Yep, sure, that’s a very convincing statement, that is.

Hey Prince William…

That’s like saying the Lannisters were “very much not” an inbred family.

Yes, the family isn’t racist. Just specific members. Maybe all of them, but still, it’s not the family itself.
