Wisconsin bar owner suggests killing NFL players who kneel

I’m really getting tired of reactionaries threatening murder and bodily harm against people and then claiming it’s their constitutional right of “free speech.” Most of what they say doesn’t constitute a true threat but the fact they want to dehumanize other people sets the foundation for someone making those statements into true threats. Little “innocent” outbursts eventually lead to less innocent ones where folks die. I really wish people would acknowledge this much and stop doing it.

I don’t think advocating for murder is protected speech. He’s not saying that he’s unhappy about the protests or disagrees or even that he thinks they should be fired… HE IS CALLING FOR THEIR MURDER.

There was that one time they held the Duma for like a few days before the Bolshevik’s threw them out on their asses… Long time ago, tho.

Very briefly, during the Provisional Government when Milyukov and the Kadets had a modicum of control. Unfortunately, he was blind to the people’s war weariness and was rolled over quickly by others further to the left who weren’t as blind.

At the very least, one would think the widespread negative publicity that so many offenders with similar attitudes to his have received over the past few years would serve as a precaution…but apparently not.

Meh. But I’d suggest not making threats against the president on twitter. Cause, you know. He’s more special than me and you.

NFL players are kneeling to bring attention to, and protest, police violence and the injustice minorities face in the country. It’s a statement about race.

Someone having a problem with them and threatening not just violence, but death is not hyperbole. And mind you, anyone that makes the argument that such statements don’t mean anything and that its no big deal is making it so that others feel like that kind of thought is acceptable. Now you tell me, are you telling me it’s ok with wish death on peaceful protesters and to publicly say so?

How’d we get here? I don’t see anyone threatening Donnie 2 Scoops.

Let me be clear: I agree with, and fully support, the NFL players in their protest about the injustice minorities face in the USA.

The restaurant owner deserves the beat down he’s getting; I hope his business suffers for his offensive comments.

I still think it’s hyperbole; exaggerated and not to be taken literally. Not to the point of “no big deal” or “don’t mean anything”. We’re here talking about it after all; this is the good speech that counters his bad speech.

I’d feel much stronger, more wary of this guy, if he was someone more… powerful? …public? To me, he’s just an impotent idiot on the Internet, scurrying back under his rock after revealing how offensive he is. I hope he learned something from the backlash, more than just to keep his vile thoughts inside his own echo chamber.

Well, locally, he’s well known as the co-owner of a very large and popular restaurant/bar, which is a big part of why this is an issue. He wasn’t just some crank saying “I wanna kill those guys,” he was saying “kill and execute these guys” to his followers and customers.

In his apology, Valko denied that his comments had anything to do with race.

“Many are suggesting the comments were directed at people of color,” he said. “Be assured that is absolutely and positively not true. I accept responsibility for these comments.”

Valko also said he would seek counseling to address “whatever may have triggered this outburst.”

Gonna be in counseling for a while, then.

Yeah give the guy a break. He’s only calling for premeditated murder. It’s not like he posted negative comments.
